Doesn't matter if its a masterclass or not, watch as he will be the #1 discussion here this week and not the other drivers.
Can someone explain what an “opaque” driver is ? …..oh wait… I think an “Opaque” driver won the nascar race today… this thread is the bottom of fchat.. several recent posts are borderline incoherent….. Do I wish SF had two young drivers to bring glory …yes… but they had that and what became of it. Win here or there…. We need the ghost of Nikki Lauda to tell it like it is about the car.. like seriously it’s been since 2009…. Maybe a thread about mediocre SF cars and less wha wha about LH..
Okay, but what you're missing is that the signing of Lewis Hamilton, an aged former world champion that cannot be relied on, is a microcosm of everything that's wrong with the organization. It's just another example of Ferrari doing Ferrari things, thus the criticism.
But there was not much criticism of Schumacher being sign with Merc, or Alonso still being signed. The focus is just on one person.
Schumacher wasn't signed with MercedesAMGF1 to sell merchandise. Schumacher was with MercedesAMGF1 to set the foundations of designing and helping MercedesAMGF1 to their 2014 car and beyond. Alonso doesn't sell merchandise either. Also, Hamilton has a large social media following compared to the other two. That's what Ferrari is after.
Bull. I could say the same that Schumacher was hired for that too. Merc took money from every sale they could. Merc was a new team, they had less recourses than Ferrari have now. Aston Martin even more so, they need more merch sales than Ferrari.
Schumacher doesn't have a social media account(then) with millions that followed him. That includes Alonso as well with a social media account It's not rocket science.
“Legacy” A word used by has beens/never weres to diminish the acomplishments of greats. History will be kind to LH, no matter what the FC keyboard warriors write.
^^^ Please… No matter how he leaves F1, you will say it was “with his tail between his legs”. And those us with a broader view will laugh at you…again
In sport, like in many different fields, it's better to leave on a high. What crowns a successful individual is choosing the right timing to bow out.
Oh really? I’ve read plenty of criticism of Schumacher’s Mercedes performance on this forum. Signing Alonso right now would approximate the level of stupidity of signing Hamilton as well as your posts. No one cares about Alonso because he is at Aston Martin and this is a Ferrari forum. Many also believe his driving is superior to Hamilton’s.
No I'm talking about Merc hiring him at the end of his career. But it seems that wasn't a big deal. Alonso haven't recovered since Sir Lewis Hamilton spanked him in 2007.
Hamilton had really good pace during the race. And changed tires at the right time. G.O.A.T. experience!
So...did Michael Jordan's tenure with the Washington Wizards tarnish his "legacy"? Nope. He is STILL considered the GOAT by most. The only people that talk about "legacy" are...well, you know. Also, it's just great that you think you know when a great athlete should retire. Me...I think they put in the time and earned the right to leave when THEY decide. PS. I am NOT calling LH the GOAT (to preempt the haters putting words in my mouth)
No, actually, there wasn't "plenty of criticism" of MS's time at Mercedes here on FChat. People love to say that to show how even handed they are while doling out the usual LH drivel. In lieu of Michael not being the driver he was, he gets credit here for the 2014 (and later) Mercedes' greatness...while, of course, diminishing Lewis' driving talent.
There was quite a lot of naysayers of Michaels return and during his 3 year stint. He had a loyal fanbase still that was rooting for him but for someone that was the most successful F1 driver at the time and of course Ferrari's winningest, it's half expected he had a loyal fanbase still pulling for him (me included). There were plenty that called for him to hang up his helmet once again on a weekly basis. During 2012 the team was open about having 3 (!!) developments at once, under instruction of Michael and Ross...the 2012, 13 and 14 car. Michael and Ross where absolutely crucial to how that team shaped up. If anyone is being diminishing it's you.
