I have a 2018 Porsche Panamera 4S with 14K miles since new. It came with stock Michelin 265/45 ZR19 front and 295/40/ZR19 rear. They look new with lots of tread.

My question is when should I replace the tires. I am over 80 years old and still drive like a teenager.

With the talk now days to replace after five years makes me think just sales talk, but I plan to leave to my son at death.
should I replace now, or leave a note in the glove box for him to replace them?

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Plenty of options on this, but my personal view is 10-12yrs based on visual inspection based on how you say you drive.

most recommendations on car maintenance are based on “normal conditions” and warranty. Think of other recommendations as a “best by date” on food…the food is still good after the date, but not its peak. Normal conditions - is regular use and prolonged routine temperature fluctuations as you experience in a daily driver.

Another factor is whether the car is stored inside from UV light most of the time or kept outside exposed to sunlight. Those factors have a bearing on rubber compound life and safety. You'll probably get opinions recommending replacement every 6-7 years to 10+ years. Personally, I think the reasonable approach is somewhere in the middle of that 6-7 and 10-12 range. But if you're still driving like a teenager, you may want fresh rubber lol.
The tires on all my toys always age out before they wear out.
Enjoy you Panamera in good health.

P.S. That's funny about leaving you son a note in the glovebox to change the tires.

Major manufacturers indicate 10 years from date of manufacture, at this point tires will have hardened somewhat and reduced grip will be noticeable.
As noted a garaged car with limited exposure to UV and ozone can likely go comfortably to 10 years, a vehicle exposed to the elements might start seeing performance drop by year 7.
5 years was made up by tire selling places.

So does the time start from date of manufacture, or date of installation? I've heard both.
The reasoning is that tire manufacturers "correctly" store the tires before they're sold, so the installation date should be used as the starting point??
I'm not talking about tires that are 5 years old when installed, but sometimes you can get a good deal on last year's production tires as much as 50% off.

Date is from manufacture, that's why you don't want old tires installed. A single year is not much loss but 3 would be for a low mileage car.
Tires are not stored in any controlled conditions.

I agree, but have heard it stated both ways.

A lot of assumptions, inaccurate & speculative information on this thread, but being an intereweb forum, not surprising.

OMG... As fast as I drive....come on these are Ferrari's....5 years or maybe 6 max...I can't say I'm a law abider but we up and down high speed fun...the only part of your car that touches the ground is the rubber....really? $1000 bucks or so for the best Michelin tires? skip oil changes every year if you wanna cheap out but keep good rubber on the wheels...Cheers!
