As of right now, what is there left to be determined? Pricing and tariff contribution has been determined.
I think you're out on new cars entirely - Porsche and Lamborghini just baked the tariffs into their base price, as opposed to breaking it out as a separate line item, but it's still being paid by the customer. Porsche has already increased MSRP multiple times on MY26 cars to account for tariffs - I wouldn't be surprised to see another now that there's a "final" deal. At least with the tariff contribution line item, there's a possibility it changes independent of the price of the car; with the others, that MSRP is never coming back down.
Then cars will sit and/or production will slow or dealers will discount. I just received a Landrover 2 weeks ago, no tariff. Same price I agreed to when ordered so its not everyone.
Some new cars, yes. FWIW I love the 296. If it was the last Ferrari I ordered new that’d be fine with me. Amazing car. Happy to buy used.
If I recall some of your other posts, you are totally out on Ferrari given what’s transpired with your dealer etc so no tariff impact there. But Porsche took prices up 3x already and is reportedly moving again this year now that tariffs are set. I would see lambo following. Not much else of importance to buy actually.
I was looking at liveries on the Pista for examples on my Speciale. What struck me most when hitting the old forums was so much negativity about the Pista price, limited weight savings and nominal increase in HP. Lots of complaints and even more surprised at posts saying that so many have been built and resale sucks and also about seeing 50 on an auto sales site. So maybe there is hope that the negativity about the speciale reduces over time. I love the way it looks and I am looking at 600K including the tariff contribution. My 296 MRSP was 475 so looking at an extra 125K which I am fine with.
I am told (by my European Dealer) that he expects first customer deliveries by year end. Would be great to see a few journo drives soon
Agreed, I am looking at 1 maybe 2 other Porsches. I am done with new Ferraris for now unless they make something interesting and I have a new dealer. Actually, I am curious about the next Mac. Hopefully that one is something special, I am betting it will be.
You are 100% right, it's always this way. I do think it's starting to become a bit silly now with current prices though, we shall see how it plays out.
Just got back from the dealer after doing some prelim specs. Good news, the engine bonnet in CF is a no (extra) charge on the aperta.lol Also, dealer had a sample of Rosso Supercar, which to me looks like a mica, similar to Maranello, but a bit brighter.
I am assuming Ferrari pushes all 15% to the customer soon. At present, its 8.5%. Someone mentioned the UK/ 15%. UK is not part of the EU.
FWIW, the tariff on UK cars is 10%, so an increase of "only" 7.5% over the legacy 2.5% tariff. The tariff on EU cars had been 27.5% before Sunday's announcement (now 15%). So considerably less for Land Rover to absorb. That said, manufacturers will handle this differently and it will take time for prices to fully normalize.
Ironically, Ferrari is in a better position to absorb it than most, but probably has the least incentive to do so.
Comparing Land Rover who produced 420,000 cars pa to Ferrari is a tough call . With 20+ times the production and the largest market being China for them they are able to spread the pain across the globe . I am not saying it is great if F do not absorb it for those in the US however if demand is there why would they ?
I'm not sure production volumes matter. It's margins (and the share of sales exposed to the tariffs). If you have, say, 15% margins and are suddenly forced to absorb a new cost that's 15% of revenues, your profits are wiped out. If you have 30% margins, they're "only" cut in half. Ferrari has famously high margins, hence they're in a better position to absorb a new cost. But, of course, they have high margins in part because they have pricing power. And that pricing power means they're better positioned to pass on those costs. And, like you say, if they can, they will.
Rosso Magma and Rosso Maranello. Rosso Supercar, if allowed, will fit nicely in-between with more of the brightness of Magma, and the wet mica look of Maranello. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
i agree with you …. almost every time a new version comes out the negativity follows, and we need to learn not to listen as evidence about what you said about the pista…. The 296 will keep its value now after the big hit it took, and the speciale will sell and will not come down in price
