I need to remove this because it's sticky as h, and it ruins my clothes. In addition, someone might have tried to remove it before without success because I have 2 plastic bits that are broken off, that I want to try to glue back together where they belong.

So before I begin, are there any hidden tricks to get this off? How many bolts are there? Does it pull straight down once bolts are removed?

Very helpful. Is there a public document available for this kind of stuff?

I'd also like to know how to remove the center console single buttons to get to the top screws for the climate control unit, without breaking any buttons or other stuff. Btw I read the climate control mountings are very brittle so I'll be as careful as possible.

And while we're at it, is there a positive terminal in the trunk somewhere(or anywhere else besides the battery terminals), to attach a trickle charger quick connection?

Undo the screws as listed above

Push gentle inward on the lower cover to release the upper clips that connect it to the upper cover.

I would do both the lower and upper cover at the same time so the refinish matches

Thanks for the help, covers are off. And they are STICKY! :) I have bought 3 different products to test what is best for removal, will be interesting to see.

Thanks for the tip on the buttons Auraraptor!

if it’s cracked significantly, it may not reassemble properly in which case it might be more prudent to simply replace the broken part; I have a spare I do need to list at some point for sale. Alternatively mesh + plastic cement + prayer.
Regardless it would serve as an excellent template piece to practice sticky removal.

    I actually agree with Robbie.

The steering column plastic is extremely fragile (as it was designed that way in case of accident). The con of this is that is will literally break apart in your hands if manhandled inappropriately.

On top of that, the steering column trim can be very challenging to source a replacement as they are long NLA. It took me several months to track down originally....if there isnt a 575 being dismantled, chances of finding an intact one are slim (and even if one is being dismantled, if it was in an accident, GL finding it complete/intact)

I have a rule of thumb to have spares of any fragile factory trim part that will likely break. Hence, I got x2 spares but only really need one. The design is VERY similar as used on the 456M but not exactly the same so its not as useful to me as I would have hoped.

From a technical standpoint its the same as the steering column. You need to remove, disassemble (without breaking), and then redo the finish. Note the logo/emblem needs to be replaced as any finish treatment/redux will strip it off as well. Be careful as the frame can also snap near where the mechanism is mounted. Not sure the source for a emblem/sticker/etc as haven't looked into it for several years but any of the stick companies would replace it when they refinish it. This part is now also NLA as I bought the last NOS from Ferrari several years ago.

If your hood/bonnet release is loose/broken, you can buy a replacement from GTCP, though it is a 3D printed part and requires finishing/sanding/priming/painting/emblem:
    https://gtcp.com/product/upgraded-hood-release-handle-for-ferrari/

NOTE Again, personally favor having a professional handle as depending on how you break it, you may be left with a hunk of useless plastic.

Quick question. Do the HVAC turn knobs pull right out from the control panel? Since my panel itself still looks good, but the turning knobs are sticky, I'd like to do them while I'm at it.

No, the panel must come apart and the 360 ones are NOT the same as the 575 ones.

I did a test with 3 products, and found that 2 of them wasn't doing much, but the last one (and cheapest one by far, Biltema Label Off) did a nice job and removed the sticky surface quite easily with just a microfibre towel and some rubbing. If I had some more patience the two others might have worked, but I guess I'll never know..

The bottom panel came out looking good. I also repaired and strengthened the two damaged places. This one should be good to go now.

The top cover did not come out that well. Even though I used the same method, just microfibre and Label Off. I bought a 2K matte clearcoat, which I'll try to apply directly on it. If pull a wet towel over the surface just so the surface gets moist, it looks perfect. So I have a bit of hope that the clearcoat will capture that state.

Nice repair work! Glad you have the two alignment clips as those tend to disappear if taken apart and reassembled several times.

I never had success w the citrus types solvents so not surprised. Careful with just stripping down and calling it a day as unless you get all the coating off it will go tacky/bubble up again.

I have not found a solution to match finish/color hence defer it to the experts as having mismatching or the hazy black plastic trim really bugs me.

One thing that really takes the stickies off your hands is Spray and Wash, but I have not been brave enough to try it on an actual 575M piece yet. Guess I could try it on the vents I just replaced with the Superamerica ones.

Got the steering column covers reinstalled and also installed the carbon shifters that I received from macarbon last week. Really happy with the overall result.

Next up might be to try to fix the leather somehow, on the passenger airbag.

Not too hard to stretch that leather over the airbag once you get it out. Getting it out is the pain in the neck.

Mine has Carbonio paddles, but they stopped making them. The 575M wheel on MAcarbon's website is mine. This is an old image with my Charcoal wheel and airbag.

Taz, that is a nice setup you got there! Like it a lot.

I also initially wanted the carbonio paddles because of the added range. I contacted them, and found out that they no longer produce the paddle shifters, and the tools and equipment to make them were thrown away years ago. However, they recommended MAcarbon - which was a nice gesture of them, considering they were, at least some years ago, rivals in the same market. In the end I could not been happier with the customer serice and the quality of the product from John and MAcarbon, so I can only recommend them if someone need any carbon pieces done.

Regarding getting the airbag cover off, is there a detailed descriptions of how to do that too somewhere?
