Hearing rumors in the Viper world of potential GEN6 Viper and some speculation that it could potentially use an MC20 tub/chassis. No clue if there is any merit to rumors, but it would be interesting.
Think about it a bit 2 more cylinders on each side of the V. Why would Maserati even entertain such an absurd idea? You have to go back to the DeTomaso & Iaccoca day so think of something like that.
But with the technology in that engine as a V8 it could make 850HP and possibly 900HP with 720 torque.
just so we’re clear, the Nettuno V6, and the Alfa Quad V6 both started life as a Ferrari V8 from the California T that was circumcised of 2 cylinders.
MCPura bumper mods, couple new colors, squared off steering wheel with LEDs and an optional wing… https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-eurocars/maserati-mc20-is-dead-long-live-the-mcpura/50062 should have just lowered the price to 150k…. And name not a McDonald’s menu item… Robb
its sad that theyre even trying at this point. either maser gets bought out by chinese company or will be out of business in few years. and i like maserati too
This press release is like expecting a Fast & Furious trailer, but you got a PowerPoint presentation.
This is a very poor intro with almost zero changes one can see that Maserati has no budget for updating the MC20.I cannot imagine anyone purchasing this new model when a used (almost new)MC20 could be more than 100K less.
MC20 is reborn as the MCPURA. Not much has changed, but it's nice to see them keeping it fresh and making more. Image Unavailable, Please Login https://www.maserati.com/us/en/models/mcpura https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a65352350/2026-maserati-mcpura-revealed/
I absolutely agree: the name of the new version is a disaster! Furthermore I could not stop laughing as they tried to sell us the car as a "new supercar". Its a facelift and nothing less....but also nothing more!
It's great news for current owners as the car is more or less identical, that parts supply will be extended even further into the future. Car still looks great, and I'm loving my MC20. It's such a party when you nail the throttle on a open road, you just have to hold on!
no hate. Original mc20 was / is great. I’d like to buy one at a lower price. Just needs to be lighter, have a better exhaust and cost less. Maserati is not doing any of those on the “new” version no one in the US is going to call it an Emm ceee Pure ahhh they are going to put it on the McDonald’s menu side of life and call it Muckpurra like McNuggets……. Marketing fail
I spotted an MC20 in the wild yesterday, dark red, still had dealer plates. Whoever you are, you exited the freeway with me and went in the direction of Chateau Elan very near I-85 just north of Atlanta. Anyone here? That said, and I hate to say this, what a boring sounding engine from the outside. I've driven one of these and it sounds much better inside.
I've seen a couple driving "in the wild". I had two impressions as they go down the street. 1) they look best when going down the street. Seeing it compared to other cars around it, it stands out and looks beautiful. 2) the exhaust is nothing to shout about. I'm also guessing 99.9999% of the people who see it have no idea what it is or who made it. I didn't get that with the Alfa 4c. The MC20 has almost nothing in common visually with the rest of the brand where the Alfa did.
Talked with a friend about them today. Came to the conclusion that this will be a car that people kicked themselves for not getting in a decade. Pretty, power doesn't matter (it never went for that title), low production, fun to drive, etc.
We are seeing that now with Alfa 4c. But the Alfa is pretty crude comparied to the MC20 and a lot slower.
