Hello all, any thoughts on this car?
    https://www.godspeedmotors.com/used-vehicle-2016-ferrari-488-gtb-750hp-aftermarket-upgrades-c-790/

Appears to have been involved in a flood in Houston 2017 at around 2k miles and has 23k miles now with some good mods: exhaust, wheels, AG battery, tune. Just worry about the turbos because its not known if they are original or if they have been replaced. This specific car is appealing to me because of the mods and presumably most depreciation has already taken place.

You can have a perfect car but once branded title the value drops off a cliff. You must buy such a car cheap!!! Also some companies will not insure so if you wreck it then you write it off. I'm not sure if other party at fault you can force them to repair it because it would be a total to an insurance co and they will pay you fewer peanuts than an unbranded ferrari even if yours was more perfect than every other ferrari.

They list the lithium antigravity battery as costing $3k. I have the same battery. Costs $900. The ad said the speedometer stopped registering mileage after the flood so you don't know how many miles is on that car. Personally, flood cars are a very hard pass for me. I'd rather have a car that's been in a wreck than a flooded car. If the car was under $100k, I'd probably take a chance on it if it had been driven for the last several years, but no way at $174k. Turbos are the last thing you need to worry about on this car.

There will always be a buyer for any car. If its a killer deal and a car you like, don't hesitate. My last f430 had rebuilt title as well. No issues at all unloading it. Might take a little longer, but you'll find a buyer.

Just make sure it's sorted. Was it a fresh water flood? If 20k miles have been put on it, sounds like its sorted out.

@pipsindamix most all the cost they list on the mods are highly inflated...fyi

If the car is legit and run as it should with no issues and it's a car you really really want because you're going to drive it a lot then I believe you should buy it but at a much lower price than advertised.

IMHO it's priced way too high for a car with a salvaged title, and if you're going to resell it down the road, the market for a car like this is very small.

Thats old thinking. With all the youtube builds out there, people have wisened up about salvage title cars.

A modded car is going to attract a certain type of buyer. A buyer than most likely has an open mind about a previously damaged car.

FYI. Before I bought my 488, there was a 488 coupe locally with a salvage title for 220k. We had a deal for asking price but it was sold out from under me.

Salvage title cars dont bother me at all. Its the cars that were crashed and ghetto fixed on the down low. You'd be surprised how often that happens.

I bought a Kia from Todd and that thing smelled like it took a bath in swisher sweets and white castles.

Ferrari buyers run from a bad carfax report, let alone a salvaged car, unless a steep discount. And the "certain type of buyer" is still a small market.

Agreed. I stayed away from a well priced car because it had 8 previous owners. If you count owners on more than one hand, that's a red flag as I have zero idea how each drove, and in all likelihood, they were looking for a 1-2 year, 1k-2K mile fun toy that they let rip every time they had a chance. Unlikely they were too concerned about 10 years down the line. But salvage? That's a whole other can of worms. If you are mechanically inclined or have a great indy, great. Otherwise good luck.
