I didn't say he (Jordan) sucked with the Wizards. Bulls career averages: 31.5 points/game, 6.3 rebounds/game, 5.4 assists per game Wizards career averages: 22.4 points/game, 5.9 rebounds/game, 4.5 assists per game Sadly for Washington and Charlotte, MJ was a LOT better player than GM/owner. Take a look at some of the guys he drafted while at Washington and Charlotte. And while you're at it, look at who he DIDN'T draft when they sitting there waiting to be drafted. Hint: Many are/were all stars...unlike these Jordan picks: Kwame Brown (#1 pick), Adam Morrison (#3 pick), Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (#2 pick), Malik Monk (#11 pick, Donovan Mitchell went #13 to Utah that year), Miles Bridges (traded Shai Gilgeous Alexander for this serial woman beater) etc
Quite the opposite. 75% of the grid would struggle to get out of Q3 in that Red Bull and yet he's still P3 in the championship.
You don't need a dominant car to win the WDC. What kind of foolish talk is that? Even Hamilton won in 2008 without a dominant car. Max most recently won the WDC without even having the best car in 2024. On average it wasn't even the 2nd fastest car and McLaren did have a dominant car at times.
While I openly enjoy Hamilton get thumped over and over by Leclerc, I admit I feel a little bit bad for him. His post quali comments came from a place of complete dejection. He hasn't been one to shy away from using any excuse out there or even throwing his team under the bus for his own failures. With the excuses all used up, it seems like he's realizing that he isn't as good as he perhaps thought he was. It must be incredibly difficult to face that reality when he lived through all the success and had everything go his way for so long. He has never gone years without having the best car for the entire season. He's had the best car a handful of times since 2022, but in pretty much ever season he's had in F1, he has had the best car for at least a stretch of the season. Not anymore and so he can't be carried to easy results like he had before. To me its quite clear how he's being exposed for NOT being such an incredible driver that the media and F1 made him out to be. But I will give him all the credit as still being a very good driver. He has had some very high level teammates over his career and more times than not he has beat them. That's an undeniable achievement. So he is a very capable driver, though it may require a car that gets adapted to him and not the other way around. It's almost painful to see a 7 time champion with over 100 wins and 100 poles lose complete faith in himself. I just hope it's not a manipulation tactic in hope for sympathy and butt kissing.
He is not Alonso who is pretty good as an old man in F1. I guess Louie is a good #2 driver. He isn't as far off as Yuki is to Max.
Alonzo to a year or two away from F1, and came back to enjoy driving whatever he could get. Maybe Lewis should try the same...go racing in Indy and WEC...even WRC...just have fun. And in a year or two, comeback drive to enjoy it. It won't be like his WDC days, but it may prove to be a great phase in his carreer. He seems to be in pain and I don't wish anymore of it on him. But in his own words, Charles is getting the car up front, and he is not. So it is not the car.
TBH I'm not sure Alonso is currently better than LH, he's in a far more comfortable position - in a team not really fighting for wins, with a team mate who is a joke. OTOH, LH joined Ferrari setting completely unrealistic expectations - like he would fight for an 8th championship win; he has a car that's supposed to be at the top, and a very good team mate. Of course, he's responsible for this situation, he should have expected the high pressure and the difficulty.
Let's hope his recent bad performances will bring everybody concerned (Elkann, Vasseur) down to reality.
I think Alonso might be stronger mentally. He is a real pest. Not saying lewis isnt mentally strong but alonso seems to be built for that.. Anyways boring race, and i think Ferrari needs to really revamp its race engineering team... BOTH drivers are mad at them every race... Vasseur, whom i like, should try to be less of a jokester in the media and clean up the house
Vasseur is trying to keep whatever sanity within the asylum. If it's a chassis issue, then everyone in Ferrari must capitulate and acquiesce to that statement.
The 2021 results really did a number on Hamilton. He would have done well to simply conclude that Max beat him fair and square (It was a season long battle not just Abu Dhabi). But, he bought into this notion that he was robbed of the WDC, hook line and sinker. He also believed his own press- that he was the GOAT. All of this added up to him sticking around too long to win his 8th and prove all of above. If he had just won in 2021, he likely would have retired at the top of his game and legacy secured. Instead, here he is.
Although he beat russel once over the 3 years i would agree with you. He should have retired in 2021. Already his 7th titled was tarnished by talks of: the car is sooooooooo good anyone would be WDC, and as soon as a car got close in performance (the red bull) he lost, and he didnt deserve that title over the course of the season... BUT he also didnt deserve for it to finish like this in 2021... HE probably was starting to lose performance around 2019-2020 but the car was perfect, the competition was anhilated so we could not really see it... On the other end, Max has been a bit disappointing for 2 races straight now. I hope he gets back to form in the second half of the season as f1 needs him. No other team seems to be able to win right now
True Max has not got any decent results lately. We could say he hasn't had a good result for weeks now. But on weekend that Yuki looked closer than usual in quali, Max still finished 56 seconds ahead despite a terrible strategy that put him directly into a traffic jam of drivers doing 1 stoppers.
Both Hamilton and Mercedes lost grip during the 2021 season. Hamilton started to make uncharacteristic faults, probably under pressure from Verstappen. His driving became aggressive under pressure, and provoked several contacts . Mercedes' strategy and preparation weren't faultless like before. One could see that Red Bull and Max became real challengers. The Abu Dhabi drama was the result of a year of decline for Mercedes and Hamilton.
Maybe Bernie is right, Hamilton rose to the top, because he didn't have much competition at the time.
He’s not. Exor NV (Agnelli’s holding) owns 21.20% of the share capital. Trust Piero Ferrari owns 10.61% John Elkann is CEO of Exor and because of that he is the chairman of Ferrari NV. should the Agnelli family ceased his trust in Elkann, he would be no more, he owns but his bad decisions.
Well there was competition: button, raikkonen, alonso, vettel even an older MS were all ther when he raced. His car was just head and shoulder the best..but lewis was VERY VERY VERY FAST !
What chassis issue would manifest itself 30 laps in? I find it perplexing that something "breaks" but can still safely get to the end. Now if a part of the floor or aero departed the car, I could understand that, but I assume that it would have been noticeable.
I think George was on the money. Ferrari was fearfull of excessive plank wear and increased the pressure on Charles tyres to rise the car wich made it undriveable
Perplexing isn't it.....but that's the story out of the Ferrari camp drinking the Ferrari-ade excuse. I personally don't buy it.
Either they had to dial something back to finish, or to finish and not DQ. Charles was driving away and checking out in the first 30 laps. If FV allowed something shady to happen, then he needs to answer for it. Charles showed up on Saturday, Ferrari needs to on Sunday.
only the front wing which had a mild update. Rest of car is identical. Yuki finished 50+ seconds behind Max who was put on a strategy that forced him to overtake a lot of cars, on a track where overtaking is very hard indeed.
