I agree a but the haptic buttons and the hard to use interface to the cars infotainment and other features with all the beeps in the car is madness many have said.
You think so? That would only be true if the winning bidder was a shill (quite possibly), but that's a good chunk of change (5% or in this case, 7500) just to shill an auction. I guess there are people out there who have more money than time and brains, combined.
Spend a day or two in the car (which is the case for 99% of owners), the haptics become second nature. And not sure what "beeps" you are referring to. My 488 and Pista "beep" all the time as well, especially at start up. So there's that, I suppose. Blaming the haptics is just lazy criticism these days. Not just of the 296/SF90, but of all cars.
I had a Roma for a bit, I would say the haptic just isn't implemented well at all. For sure wasn't a deal killer for me, but it did seem like the newer tech wasn't thought through at all. Not sure if it got any better with the 296.
It's more than haptics and yeah they suck as well. It's also crap systems not ready for prime time yet. ADAS is a perfect example and a complete disaster. With all of the beeps/chimes it's like walking into a doorbell store. I tend to ignore everything and just watch the camera (which also sucks). Anything else is an exercise in frustration. My Roma was possessed. Dash and tablet screen flickering in and out or the tablet would go black and stay that way until the next day. Navigation went out and error messages to see service department. Had the latest and greatest updates and it did nothing. Max view was a feature that was removed with a software update because it was too laggy. I suspect the hardware wasn't up to the task and no software update was going to fix that. There's more but that's enough to get the point across. To be fair, Ferrari is a sports car company that had to add all of these driver assistance features fairly recently and it shows. So I get that part of it, however it's not anywhere close to acceptable to me including the haptics.
I hear you.. Ferrari is always +/- 5 years behind eventually it will catch up. Upcoming models will be better, mix of buttons and haptic. Starting with F80.
Its only partly due to the use. I want actual physical buttons to press. Its so much easier to feel for a button when you arnt looking directly at it. Most of it, IMO, is due to having a multi thousand dollar screen that will need to be replaced when it breaks. And Italian electronics are not known for quality. The only plus side haptics have over buttons is they wont get sticky.
**In the UK** the F8 is rarer than the Pista. We have (estimated) about 550 488 Pistas registered and SORN, vs circa 300 F8 Tributos registered and SORN. There have consistently been more Pistas for sale in the UK classifieds than F8s. A number of UK dealers have also confirmed that that there are fewer F8s than Pistas here. We agree, however, that it is not a rare car in the USA. Every market is different.
What the average asking price for a f8 tributo and a pista in the uk. Here in the us there’s about a 300 k price diffrence now a days
There are also roughly 80 F8’s available(Spider and Tributo) on the Ferrari Pre Owned site in America and 9 Pista available. Pista value has gone up exponentially here in the last 6 months. Following similar trend as the Speciale.
they’ve shot up recently. It’s crazy. All 7 Asking price on Ferraris pre owned site is between 650-750 now. Spiders 800+. Not saying that’s what they’re moving for but that’s where they are sitting. It’s nuts
Geesh... I just looked at Pista's around July 4 weekend on line asking prices with a friend... If they are now $700k...that's crazy but good for Pista owners. If this Hybrid situation stays around and that is all Ferrari is producing I'd think they will go higher. F8 seems to be steady for $350'ish+ for Tributos. I hope F8 climbs as the last none hybrid mid engine Ferrari. I wonder how fast F8's are selling if priced right for the buyer and owner?
yeah F8’s are holding really strong from what I’ve seen. Very little depreciation overall. 812 as well. The amount of F8/812 for sale the US has been diminishing as well which means people are snatching them up.
There was a guy I used to see on here all the time when I used just lurk. F430 something.. and I remember him saying how The F8 would hold strong and then rise within the next couple years. Looks like he was right. He also said how 296's and even SF90's would be priced below F8's within a couple years and you can get 296's at or below F8 pricing now. Looks like he was right. And the SF90's is getting close as I am seeing many in the 4's now. So he might be right about that one soon too.... AND he said how there were less F8's made than Pistas and everyone laughed... but hmm, I think he was right about that too.
Yes, and he was banned from the site permanently because everyone was giving him so much flack for those predictions and he said something the admins didn't like, which in my opinion was completely unnecessary for him to be banned. And why I haven't been on the site much at all for a few months.
Think 05F430F1 has had enough of a time out...let's bring him back to Fchat, I think we all enjoyed his time on the forum
I agree with everything you stated and I am curious to see how the 812 holds versus the 12C which is incredibly divisive. Totally agree that the disinterest in the 296/SF90 has kept the F8 values high. I don’t think the F8 is scarcer than the pista in America though. There are 8X as many F8’s as there are pistas for sale right now.
For sale and produced are very different things... esoecially when you realize, one is a drivers car and one is a collectors car which matters GREATLY in how often they go up for sale..... but, those predictions etc weren't mine, I was 'quoting' F430 guy.,,, I do agree with him though. AND I do also think the 812 will hold much better than the 12C. 812's and F8's are gonna be strong for a very long time. they may both even be at their lowest right now... UNLESS Ferrari, like other brands have stated they would, decides to go back to stright up ICE engines without hybrid assist again sometimes in the future. And even then, both will hold strong imho.
8X is a significant difference plus one was produced 4 years and the other 2. Even with Covid it had a much longer production. And I agree on the F8/812 potentially being at the bottom and with the continued production of hybrid cars people don’t really want, I could see the values going up a bit. 12C is interesting. Some people seem to be coming around after seeing in person. I’m not one of them. I canceled my spider allocation. I don’t get that car. Hope it wasn’t a mistake. People say the drive is unreal.
I saw one in person recently too and it was black which I think is the best color for that car and it STILL was awful to me. Really did not like it. The 812, to me, is SOOOOOO much nicer.
Yeah could not agree more. Mine was spec’d all black, black sport wheels with Tortola interior but I simply prefer everything about the 812, including the analog system. I have spent. A lot of time in the SF90 and I don’t hate the haptics like everyone else. I got used to it quick. I’m only 45 but I simply prefer the analog.
past few weeks i know a few sales all in the 625/650had 2 friends buy last week and there are no more 550 k nice examples lately,f8 are the best buy right now imo, also the f8 production was very low also,if your looking for a f8 or pista imo now is the best time to buy before the next increase
