Everyone and their dog knew Ferrari is f'ed up internally. Hamilton being there or not does nothing more to expose it except for a few more articles from the British side of F1` journos highlighting it. The 2026 rules are hugely complicated and a betting man would not back Ferrari in the new Regs. Ferrari have failed to be on top of the new regs every time without being completely legal for 20 years now. Ferrari has incredible facilities and their best bet would've been Newey. Ferrari had a fine pair of drivers in Leclerc (super quick) and Sainz (technical ability). Having Lewis there underperforming and looking teary eyed in the camera telling the world he doesn't have it anymore and that Ferrari needs to get rid of him is the very last thing Ferrari needed.
I think Newey would not only be beneficial for Ferrari in car design but a revamp of how all three F1 depts "talk" to each other....a restructuring on a biblical scale of the likes that Ferrari F1 hasn't seen in decades. Once that restructuring that would have taken place, winning is somewhat easy on the track and upper management can just sit back and relax.
McLaren is proving Newey is not a necessary condition to win; we'll see with AM next year if Newey is a sufficient condition (I would not bet on it).
That’s the question I guess. How much of the culture, management, decision making, race strategy, came from Newey vs Horndog….? Certainly Newey would improve the technical side however how much does he really get involved with these other aspects of the team. If Fred is staying, and we know he is, what is he going to change? What was he implying with his cryptic statement about the Scuderia changing everything except this ‘one thing?.’ Is he now able to change that ‘one thing?’
That's true. How is Mclaren doing it without Newey? IF the 2026 Mclaren MCL40(??) proves once again as dominant on the race track as its predecessor, that aerodynamacist would be "prime real estate."
Maybe that "one thing" that Vasseur was mentioning was POSSIBLY moving to the U.K. That's my guess since the talent in F1 in the U.K revolves around the top teams there.
Ron Dennis is proven wrong again this year. He always said that a customer team would never beat the factory to a championship. McLaren did it last season (WCC) and will certainly do it again this year (WCC AND WDC).
If Vasseur is staying it should be with an ultimatum: “Everybody starts from Square 1 next year. If we aren’t on top, you’ll be replaced.”
No. That would not be Ferrari. IF that is what Fred is referring to then he needs to be let go with immediate effect, like Horner.
2026. On the other hand if they show their asses at Monza the way they did in Hungary….and their apparent cluelessness in the aftermath…that should be his final race for Ferrari.
Yes, the role of a principal at Ferrari is to be a fuse, the scapegoat to blame when things go wrong. That's the Ferrari tradition, even if the failure comes from some where else. It's the blame culture. Has Vasseur any authority in the technical department, the design team ? What is his background to speak to engineers, designers, the chief technical director, etc ... If the Italian media demand it, his future at Maranello is doubtful, and he will join the long list of former TPs at Ferrari.
I don’t see the role of TP at Ferrari….or anywhere else….as scapegoat. I see it as being similar to that of CEO. A CEO must take responsibility for an organization’s persistent failure to meet its main goals, in this case winning races and championships, or at least being consistently competitive for winning them.
There is what happens in other organizations, and then the reality at Ferrari; I don't make it up ! Christian Horner was at RB for 20 years; Ferrari had 6 principals during that period. Result: RB 8 WDCs, Ferrari 1. I don't think the director of the gestione sportive enjoys the same power at the CEO or principal in other teams. Not from what filtered out over the years; Ferrari is a different sort of structure, more feudal with a toxic atmosphere. I guess most of the technical team hasn't been chosen and recruited by Vasseur. Some of staff is unmovable and benefits from protection from the distant management, etc ... But Vasseur will have to pay for their failure, as others have done before him.
The issue is that we all know why Hamilton is all weepy and gloomy these days — and unsurprisingly, his performance is suffering. As he admits in this interview, he’s feeling sad and alone, he doesn’t have a partner, thinks he’s unattractive, and is just yearning for a bit of comfort. Honestly, it would be so simple for the team to just hire him a bit of rented affection. He wouldn’t even notice — he’s not after passion, just a cuddle, a few sweet nothings, and a goodnight kiss. The king is heartbroken. https://www.newsweek.com/sports/racing/lewis-hamilton-opens-complicated-love-life-amid-formula-one-goals-2106292
If there was someone who could boost his ego, give him his wings back, restore his splendor, make him shine brighter than the sun, return faith to a fallen god who ceased to believe in himself… …. if such someone existed, he would do worse than you would.
the rent-a-sluts that are photographed *near* his hotel that he *may* be staying at aren't giving him the satisfaction it seems.
