12 Cilindri Color Thread

Tons of painted shields. Might be a record percentage. Painted shields were previously rather rare on standard production cars.

 

Any thoughts on what this color might be? I know it’s tough at this time of day.

Hello, that paint color was described as Rosso Rubino. Though it might be Rosso Amaranto?

 

I think they fill the space better than the smaller enamel shields making them a popular choice. Very, very few have no shield chosen.

I'd say the description of Rosso Rubino 324 is correct. Here is an 812 SF in this colour on a dull day and also on a bright day for comparison. This SF was a car that was spec'ed as a demo by my dealer (and shown on a Ferrari organised track day event in the first photo) and then ended up for sale at an independent specialist in the second photo at a later date.

I'm seeing more cars with no shields. In fact my initial build is no shields and I thought I was the only one but my dealer told me so far multiple clients have taken the shields off their specs, so it will be interesting to see more cars with no shields. The most recent 12 C to come into the dealership for a client also has no shields.

 

Another first with this model painted Verde GB23 and for the interior Verde Venaria.

test drive today. very fast. comes on the cam around 5500 rpm.
large car that shrink wraps around you.
no way a car that revs this fast could ever have a manual trans(ie 3 pedal).

Miami Vice

The show series began with a Black Daytona spider which was an obvious kit car. Ferrari became aware and sent a letter from their consigliere to stop using a fake Ferrari in the series. The show was becoming a hit, but the show didn’t have the budget for real Ferraris. So a deal was made. The show destroyed the black Daytona replicas and Ferrari provided the show with 2 Testarossas in black paint matching the color of the original Miami Vice replicas.

The show decided to change the Testarossa paint color to white because they thought the white cars looked better on camera in both the day and the night shots.
So the new black Ferraris were re painted white.

Please add to or correct

Much later in Wolf of Wall Street , another White Testarossa is used . Is this one , on of the same cars from Vice?

Sans Shields

 

Haven’t seen this metallic copper brown before.
is this a histori color from say the 1960’s

 

I have not seen this copper color before and without the name I can't give an answer for this one. It does have a 60's feel to it.

 

I wonder if thats Nocciola? (Hazelnut)

 

You could be correct on a modern interpretation of Nocciola paint. Some examples below for comparison with the modern 296 and 12C being a good match including the original formula for a restored example >

I am now 99% sure that is the correct color (Nocciola)

 

Always take the last spot in the row and don't park too deep with that expensive nose. Preserve that Azzurro La Plata with the less common single stripe livery. Grigio painted wheels complete the exterior look >
