    Exactly.

If anything Alonso to this very day gets told on this forum how he's toxic, bad at choosing teams, having teams fall apart around him and so on.

People (correctly) look beyond that and still value him highly as a racing driver because of his immense talent and dragging absolute ****boxes to places it doesn't belong (2012 Ferrari F1 anyone?). His achievements in racing outside of F1 also speak to his immense versatility as a racing driver.

He doesn't parade around his politics at any given opportunity, nor does he pretend he's holier than thou.

He's a bit of an ******* even. But it seems that people seem to prefer someone that's unpretentious about who he is rather than try their best at being liked by everyone. Worked well for the likes of Alonso, Kimi and Max.

The "other stuff" transpires even when he is on the radio on the track, in conversations with his team, with journalists.
The "drama queen" can't stop it. It also becomes more apparent each GP that racing isn't his main preoccupation at Ferrari; adding drama to attract more publicity is.

What did he say on the radio or to his team that others drivers don't say?

How bout "The other car is on pole. I'm useless. Time to get a new driver!" for starters.

Hungary2020-->Alonso was defending Hamilton so Ocon could win the race for 10 laps straight. Hamilton says "He's(Alonso) is driving dangerously." Which wasn't the case. Alonso was defending aggressively.

Can you name any other F1 driver with these same comments?

This is picking staws man. Lando calls himself an idiot. Charles called himself stupid multiple times. Drivers accuse others of their driving all the time. You can make a whole drama series with Max's radio messages. Just put them on repeat.

Regarding Alonso and what @william said on post #10350 and @Bas stated on post #10352:

Alonso also has a karting school for young kids whom want to become an F1 driver provided they have the money, talent and skill to succeed.....a meritocrial ideology.

Can you name any other F1 driver with a karting school other than one that pushes inclusiveness, diversification or equity?

Yeah, but Hamilton is finished. He sell-by-date has expired like 4 years ago. The drivers you mentioned are still in their prime. They're going to knock themselves from time-to-time.

My remarks weren't directed at anyone in particular (william). Just pointing out overall Alonso was insufferable, he just happened to be around two of the biggest cheating scandals in recent times, and he also failed to deliver not only for Ferrari but for any team he's been on for the better part of two decades. Regardless, in the history books stats are what will matter and shows who delivered the goods. And between him and the driver who is the subject of this thread - the stats aren't even close. So it's funny when his name comes up in this thread.

Alonso is the only Ferrari driver to come within 3 points of the WDC title if it wasn't for Grosjean at Spa(2012) since Kimi. No other Ferrari driver has come closest.

The guys paid his dues with all the toxicidity he's created. He's square with the house.

I hope he wins another title with AMRF1 now that Newey is there when he turns 45yo in 2026.

No, Ferrari and any team he's been on has failed to deliver for him and that goes for every team that failed to win a championship.

Had he not been taken out by Grosjean, Alonso would have beaten Vettel in 2012 in seasonal points....but that's racing.

In 2008 Massa lost the title for one single point - that's closest than 3 points in my math :p, and that's also "since Kimi" whose title was in 2007...

    different point system though.

On current point system Massa would've been 13 points behind.

Not to mention when Seb went off the Track in Canada and came back on, and Lewis was complaining about dangerous driving by Seb. Where was Seb supposed to go? That gave Seb the 5 second penalty and Lewis the win. Bad sportsmanship, as Lewis is always the one to get on the radio and call out dangerous driving, when the other driver is trying to defend position. That Canada race still bothers me, as it was completely wrong the way it was handled by the FIA.

Drivers talk their book. All of them. That's the job.

It's the FIA's job to separate the embellishment from the facts, and apply the penalties (or don't) correctly.

lets not forget Hungary 2021 when Lewis couldn't overtake Alonso and he was complaining all the way.
