Under 5k miles. Thats a shame. What a waste.
Something seems off with those Daytona inserts (?)
I cannot put my finger on it.

They should be ashamed of themselves.....it should be worthless.....how low can we hope it sells for?......$40k is too low isn't it ;-)

I recently told my wife.....who is adamant I have too many cars.....that the 1973 Rolls on a 4x4 Mistubishi chassis that sold this last week in the UK (ebay)....I was talking with the seller about RORO shipping to Port of Oakland and if he didn't have a local buyer I was prepared to have the fight with my wife about it....because....you know....you only get one life......she wasn't impressed. LOL

A beautiful money pit with those miles. There is a thread on Pistonheads about a F355 'display piece' (as described by the owner) that has a spontaneous revving issue on the rare occasions it's started up. Nobody has so far suggested actually driving the thing. No doubt the owner would be aghast at the prospect of it being... outside.

Is there any additional collective thoughts on the inserts? I was trying to compare it to this 456 from BaT https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-ferrari-456m-gta-4/

Car just finished at RNM $68k.....seems reasonable...wonder why he didn't lift reserve and let it go....

Love the color combo. I'd absolutely be interested in a GTA but at these bids why not take a manual version.....

This GTA at $49,250 in comparison...... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-ferrari-456m-gta-4/

Its just an unkind market right now. The whole 456 platform had a good run and seemed to be on the up and up a few years ago, but for the time being I think its just one of those cars that has cooled back down in terms of collecting or appreciating. There have been some softer sales of both GT and M-GT gated cars the last 18 months.

We all know GTA is a great car too, but i think buyer pool of increasing value is shallow right now. Time will do its thing, but I dont think I need an equity manager to tell me its probably not a good investment vehicle. ;)

As far as the inserts, I have never seen Daytona seats without piping.
Could be a rare bird. Ferraris can be so random.

Daytona seats and piping were separate options.

What a lovely color too. What a tragic outcome on paper. Glad the car was (relatively) ok and salvageable (pun not intended).

Nice work finding the actual car ! I actually recall reading that old thread and was JUST telling the story about that airbag deploying sideways this week.

Interesting how many of these are “known” vs unknown.

I will also add that it is unusually easy (to me) to accidentally snap a 180 in a 456. When you hit the limit or some sand or water and that’s it, full 180 and fast. It has happened to me 2x. I drive and have driven tons of “fast” cars and sometimes stupidly. It almost like a C4/5 corvette - also with independent suspension.
