The sound occurs only when cold starting - and then It disappears after a few minutes. The engine runs fine - euro dry sump 77. Thanks

Well audios in videos are not ideal for this but.....

    1. sounds like a loose screw....but that going away would not be expected.
    2. could be a crack/hole that upon warm-up seals...I had a maybe similar noise because one for the airpump plugs in exhaust header got lose...easy fix.
    3. you are pointing at the water pump...is that where it is coming from? if you put your hand on it, does it vibrate?

Thanks - sound both like a loose screw - small stone caught somewhere - and almost like static electricity. I have driven the car approx 500 km since this sound first appeared last week.
No vibrations from the water pump either. The sound is difficult to locate. I will check the air pump plugs.

Most likely its accessory belt slap. The belts take on a "set" if not used regularly, so when you start the car the belt snaps up and down on the pully. Not a horrible thing, use some belt dressing to improve its adherence, but best to change out the accessory belt. This is not the TIMING BELT - its the Accessory Belt for water pump, alternator and AC.

Pretty sure that is the belt. There is a hard plastic spine inside these thin section a ccessory belts, it takes a set with age and makes this kind of static popping sound, especially if the belts are a bit loose. It would go away after the belt heats up.

The accessory belts are supposed to be checked and retensioned after initial installation. Many would not do this, so the belts can be a bit loose on many cars.

If your belts are indeed new and not due for change, you could just try retensioning.

For the love of all that is holy, DO NOT buy this particular piece of garbage. I bought one and immediately threw it in the bin the first time I tried to use it. Don't get me wrong, automotive stethoscopes are very useful for tracking down noises. Just don't waste your time and money on this one from HF
