Agree on non-shuffle steering on track, though I have quicker steering rack on mine. Beauty of well-setup 355 is capability of throttle steering.

Right, Claudio. Big Bend (Turns 1 and 2) at Lime Rock Park is taken as one turn with two apices. The car is controlled with both throttle and steering. A subtle lift off the throttle puts weight on the front wheels which turns the car a bit without using any steering input.

I'm doing this at 12:03 in this video...

My 308 is much more sensitive to throttle steer than my 355.

Because it's really not necessary (imo). I think even on the challenge it's to protect from drivers that maybe don't know how to rev match and slip the clutch too much - I've watched a few onboards and that is definitely the case for some (period) drivers. If you watch the races it's pretty amazing how robust the cars are, hardly any retirements even when collisions happen.

I'm sure they're just another used car lot. Their website doesn't mention anything about dealer license sales only. Bulk sales only? :)

Very interesting. I used to think it was a clutch cooler but revised my thoughts after seeing the challenge clutch cooler.

FYI my car has one and it's a November '94 build.

If I recall correctly, your car is actually a Sept 94 build car. #100453. OCKlasse’s car is the sister car right after yours and his car did not have it. There are earlier September cars such as Bobzdar and JimmyM’s who also who do not have it.

It’s certainly possible it has been removed from their cars by previous owners (and lost) as it is ugly afterall :). I removed mine the first week I bought the car.

U.S cars were first built in July. Production was halted in August. Only a handful of cars have Aug 94 build dates. Production continued in September. Certainly possible the cooler was equipped in September build cars. Just not many examples. By October 94 355’s certainly didn’t have them. My Oct 94 and others’ don’t have them.

It’s certainly a clutch cooler. Perhaps not as effective as the newer coolers, but it does scoop up air.

My records show roughly 31 U.S 355’s have July 94 build dates.

The bracket used to install the early clutch cooler is identical to the ones used to install later clutch coolers.

    Damn you are good!

You are right it was a September build. Not sure why I said November?!
Anyway, I have no way of knowing if it came with it from the factory. However my car is all original except for the Tubi exhaust and the rear challenge grill. I have the original solid rear tail panel. I would expect the cooler to be on there from the factory because who in their right mind would put it on willingly? But you do make a convincing argument.

Curious how many ‘94 September builds since #100298 has the clutch cover, fiberglass under trays, and September build?

Hard to say. Mine has neither (100329) but I also do not know how original the parts are under there. Mine was ran really low before I bought it and had a lot of scrapes on the undertrays and front bumper (which was also repainted), so they could have been trashed and replaced - or in the case of the clutch cover not put back on. I do not think the main undertray was replaced and is the later style, so that would say somewhere between 298 and 329.
