I’ve previously used Leatherique products but decided to try Connolly Hide Care as I believe Ferrari uses Connolly leather. I tested it on a small inconspicuous spot first and the results are not very good. It seems to leave behind a whitish chalk like residue on the black leather that’s not easily removed.

Has anyone used this product and had issues with it? Perhaps I’m doing something wrong, I cleaned the leather real good prior, using the Connolly cleaning solution.

Like in any other product comparison, only realistic way to compare them is to use both products on the same section of the same component (console/door panel/seat/etc) in the same car, like a left & right side bolster either on drivers or passenger seat with equally aged/soiled/worn/etc leather.

P.S. The Connolly leather hasn’t been used in Ferraris for ages, as the company (Connolly) went out of business decades ago and if the treatment product was originally produced by them it may be well past its “use before” freshness date.

Sadly TR used Connely. Its why the interiors are so fragile. Ferrari finally gave up on it at that point.

3of9, how old is the Hide Care product that you are using and has it separated? I ask this because there is a history to Connolly "Hide Food" as it was originally named. I do admit that my Ferrari interiors have only been beige color, but I have personally found Hide Food to be more than a super product. I came across Connolly Hide Food at my local F dealer in the 1980s that I was looking for, but Randy the Parts Manager said he could not sell it. He said they had received a shipment that had separated for some reason. Nobody knew why. He was not happy about it and as a friend he offered all of it to me for nothing if I just took it. I did and later on it came to light that if you microwaved the defective Hide Food a little and stirred it, the original consistency would return. It turned out to be a nice score and over the years I used it up. When I went to purchase same years later, it was no longer available because of the word "Food" in the name needed to be litigated by the powers to be. Fast forward, I noticed the name change to Connolly Hide Care at Jaguar and bought a jar. I just went out to the garage just now to look at it. It has a green screw on cover (whereas the Hide Food cover was red) with a label across the top, which is very hard to read. I think it cautions about separation because of hot or cold conditions during transport. Somebody out there might be able to look their cautionary label. In your case with black leather, maybe more attention to frequent changing of the cleaning cloths could help on such black surfaces. EDoug

Unsure as there is no date anywhere on the container that I can see. It does not appear to be separated. However, I did buy the product from eBay, so it is very possible that I received either an expired batch or even a counterfeit.

How were your results with Leatherique? It's going to be 97 here Saturday so I'm thinking of getting a good coat on the dash.

Quite good. My only complaint is it leaves an odd smell. It’s not really a bad smell, just a somewhat strange smell.
