Hey boys, Surprised this topic hasnt come up yet. What is causing the surging pista market, seems like an easy 20% premium in the last 4-5 months. Curious to know everyones thoughts.
Same thing with Pista as Speciale I think - supplies now at all time low, with continued strong demand, so turning into sellers market.
The lobbying to get the Speciale prices increase has finally paid off - then people realised what a bargain the Pista was compared to the Speciale at over inflated prices, so that Pista prices also surged. If the lobbying to get the 458 Italia / Spider prices up is eventually successful (which it is not currently, in spite of claims based on alternative realities) I guess the 488 GTB / Spider prices will also increase The market performance of the Pista is even more remarkable, because whereas for the 458 the choice is just between the regular model and the VS, for the 488 there is also the F8 in the equation (the Speciale is the exclusive and latest 458, whereas the Pista is the exclusive 488, but the F8 is actually the latest 488).
If you ask Instagram everyone loves the 458S "its so epic and well balanced" "last NA sounds so good" "acceleration is so linear and the pedal is responsive no turbo lag" blah blah blah................. but i was recently at a Corsa Pilota event (296 on track) which had a dozen Ferrari factory professional drivers there as instructors. And of course throughout the weekend we had plenty of time to chat cars. And the Pista vs Speciale debate came up. and no exaggeration, every one of those drivers except one said they prefer the Pista and think its the more special car. That meant somethign to me. Also, if you look at sales in Europe the delta between Pista and Speciale is nowhere near the USA. that also says something. anyways i love both. but the Speciale is not some supreme thing nothing else can touch. its fantastic. but its ok for other things to be praised and get their appreciation on as well.
Pre-hybrid/pre-haptic Ferraris are being recognized as the last, more or less, authentic Ferrari experiences, especially the last of and VS models. Each hybrid model with its various electric motors and EV subsystems are just a commodity, nothing special (other than being the latest offerings). Those experiences are quite different. The Speciale the final NA and the Pista(and F8) the final NA+turbo; unless Ferrari moves away from hybrid, those experiences provided will never occur again, hence the demand is finally catching up to reality of what hybrids mean to Ferrari's offerings (very different experiences). At some future time, maybe Ferrari will provide the ability to convert hybrids to being non-hybrids (i.e. factory-approved methods and parts).
Yep. Battery cars will continue to tank. Ain't nobody want those unless you're a ferrari fan boy. Bring back the sub 3000lb 400hp manual cars.
That’s interesting. Oddly enough, every car review that discusses the best driver’s car of all time mentions the Speciale, but never the Pista, even though it is the better driving car. Having sold my Pista for a Speciale a couple of years back, I’ve never had regret, except for the styling loss to the Pista. Do I wish I kept the Pista and didn’t buy the sf90 spider? Yes. I also wished the Pista sounded good, but to me it did not. The 296 is an improvement in that respect, whereas the F8 was definitely not.
having driven a pista f8 and a speciale.i do love the f8/pista power especially at midrange rpm it just a beast, where the speciale need to get it to high rpm, overall expreience im in for the f8/pista performance,on the track speciale is the one to have street driving id go with the other 2
That's interesting. I enjoy the Speciale around town much more than I did the Pista. It doesn't;t have to be driven as hard to be enjoyable, but maybe that's just my situation where I live. Like I mentioned, wish I still had my Pista...in addition to the Speciale. Bonehead move selling it...oh well.
get another one,i recently purchased another diablo my 3rd one, only car i missed driving that made me so happy when behind the wheel,i ended up spending like 3 xs more to get another one sometimes you just have to get the one you miss even if you have to pay a bit more
It's always an option. I'd likely look at a Spider this time. I have a 296SA coming, so that should scratch the itch.
FWIW.................i bet your portfolio is at least 3X what it was............so its a wash!.....lol youre probably even ahead.
HRE Classics 305.............did 20/21 setup with a massive 355 tire in the back. love it. but some of my boys bust my chops about the wheels
