Hello all, Just picked up an 18 Superfast, and smiling while sleeping. Haven’t had a chance to drive much but it is a big car (compared to my McLaren 600lt). couple of questions for current / former owners: Anything I need to look out for mechanically? exhaust options - I’m thinking straight pipe, x pipe and keep the stock back box located in northern Virginia. Purchased from Ferrari of Austin. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've had mine for over 3 years and haven't had any problems whatsoever. If you go with "straight pipe, x pipe and keep the stock back box", the car will be extremely loud on high RPMs and on cold start. Enjoy!
Thanks. I had 488 a few years ago and sold it in three months. F8 are much better. Like the Mac 600LT due to one of a kind go kart raw experience that others don’t have or can’t match.
Congrats on the car! I got mine back in February and straight-piped it. Honestly, I kind of hate the smell, and it’s ridiculously loud at low RPMs with the valves open... it almost drones. I ended up going with a full IPE titanium exhaust: replaced the cats, added the X-pipe, and the back box from IPE. The smell is what bothers me the most. Funny enough, I’m still relatively young and love loud cars, so that should give you an idea of what type of person I am even though I still can’t stand the straight-pipe setup. I’m planning to swap in 100-cell cats from Novitec along with their X-pipe, but I’ll keep the IPE back box. One issue: I get CELs all the time because of the O2 sensors with the straight-pipe. I don’t want to tune the car either, so that’s just part of the game for now. Mechanically, the best advice I got was to pop the hood after long spirited drives. The V12 gets really hot, so it’s good to let it breathe. Also, make sure your battery is solid. Mine was faulty and gave me a full Christmas tree of warning lights when I first got the car. Since replacing it, I haven’t had a single issue.
Previous post 100% on popping the hood to ease heat cycle. Also fresh Interstate or other batteries solid advice. There's an extensive thread on 812 issues to stay up on. Enjoy but the cops in your area are watching and hungry but nothing you're not aware of by now.
Just an update. Love the Ferrari V12 motor and it has been a blast. Little muted for my taste but that’s how Ferrari intended it. Ordred capristo exhaust system - catless downpipes, x pipe from Mike Berman. Got the exhaust valve controller from Forza and used CEL capristo delete unit. Can’t wait to get these installed.
I got the full titanium Ryft Co (limited https://ryft.co/products/25-40-0003) put on when I first got the car. It's sanely loud when you want it to be but tame enough at low rpm where there's a light rumble but you're able to have a conversation with the passenger or be on a phone call without any issues. Also got a stage 2 ECU upgrade and turned off the cold start and auto start/stop (probably the best thing ever). Good luck to you - you will love the car.
Congrats on the purchase! The mid engine turbo charged doors up McLaren is such a great stablemate for the front engine V12 Ferrari. I have an F12 and a 720s - perfect combination!
Absolutely great!! Let us know how you like the setup. Ive gone back to my novitec setup with IPE backbox and a Tubi controller. Im excited to get the car back
Update: got everything installed but had to deal with delays due to customs. It just sounds vicious. System was relatively easy to install and plug and play. Short clip below
Any update on the transaction with Mike Berman? Did you receive the capristo? Did it ship directly to you from Germany? Did you have to end up paying additional tariffs?
Ended up getting parts & pieces from getting from different vendor(s) who had them in stock or can access it fast.
Yea he told me it needed 4 weeks to come from Germany, and assured there would be no customs or tariff issue, but it didn't make sense how he could give that assurance. Who did you find that had the cats in stock?
