I know those are filmed stripes and not painted ones. Also on challenge 296. But I thought I would share this design. Most ones I saw also had dream lines.
    Food for thoughts...

XX all exterior carbon but for a few weird pieces were included - as was black roof assuming that's not free on VS.
After Straddle and Scuderia, Ferrari really backed off the "free carbon" and new designed mirrors - bit depressing. Scud and Straddle mirrors imo made a huge difference and eliminated motors.
430 Scuderia offered a US Carbon pack in the second year of production - this used to be common and wouldn't be surprised to see it return. Still debating VS.

I don’t like the livery. The Pista one was much better, but even still, I like designing the car. Not sure why the Pista piloti value stays higher, really.

It is hard to tell but are the wings - pronounced vs blending in.
I think all race cars are childish - that's the best part. 296 is a pretty busy car as it is, this livery doesn't help.

I hate that they won so much with this livery. It will now be forced upon us for the rest of time.

Spent time with this very car at car week. setting aside the livery, the overall design wasn't what I was expecting. This car was sitting next to a 296GT3 (may have been challenge), race car and a 296 GTB and GTS. Long story short, in order of overall design presence this car rated (to MY eye) last. There were so many weird design elements that made no sense. The actual race car looked SO much better, that cars design was truly Speciale. Porsche gets this. The 911 GT3 RS is 90% GT3RS race car...as in the same part numbers. The 296 Speciale is NOT a race car, its a poser 'race car' for the street. Which is fine. That said, Ferrari should have incorporated more true race car elements to the Speciale to make it more special. Imagine if the 296 Speciale had more 296 Challenge/ GT3 design elements, THAT would have been epic. I was very disappointed.

Can you elaborate on the weird design elements that made no sense?

I agree with this car specifically and Ferrari’s take on the VS cars generally. If you already have a 296, I really can’t imagine shelling out this much more for a car that’s only marginally better. The marketing department has earned their budget for sure. It’s a great car and I’m sure owners will be very happy with them but so is the standard car that most already have.

I haven’t seen it, but I bet the standard show car in the verde nurb. looks much better.

Funny - to my eye and yes I have only see pics - I really like the design. I am under no illusion that its a "race car" - Its not - its going to be great fun in mountain passes etc etc. For the track GT2RS is the king of road cars IMO.

I’m also torn with the wheel choices. Carbon wheels look the best, but are not practical, so I’m leaning toward all black wheel with the dream line on the outside of the wheel matching the stripe on the car.

I’ve thought about that angle, with the dreamline. I’m going to see what options there are with TM.

CF wheels do flex - you can also have them repaired.
Matching stripe is a good look - seen on some XX.

I’ve driven thousands of miles on my Pista on CF wheels with one minor incident. This is about the same rate as with metal wheels.

I like the forged wheel option with black centers - it's just a nice visual nod to the F80, which makes sense given the powertrain and philosophical similarities between the two.

The carbon wheel design is great, but I think it's getting a little stale - hasn't seen visual changes since Pista.

For your information with the tailor made or atelier option you can choose the width of the stripes, 2 small or one big stripe and/or add a third or 4th stripe at the outlines. As long as your configuration gets approved, because for the Speciale , Ferrari is much more strict on what is allowed livery wise , color combinations that according to Ferrari aren’t in the spirit of this special car , are rejected. Some customers have already complained that liveries that are available on the regular 296gtb got refused for the speciale

Do you know if the 296vs carbon wheel is the same offset and width as the regular 296 carbon wheel part numbers ?

Has anyone seen the standard interior material for the lower area and dash yet. I forgot the name but it was some kind of technical fabric.
