Exterior: "Rosso F1 2004", you need a red, without too much sparkle (Magma) that contrasts well with the blue of the seats. Image Unavailable, Please Login Interior: "Electric blue", but black steering wheel, otherwise it looks too busy and you lose the historical reference. Personally, I would have done just the two racing seats in electric blue and everything else in black. Calipers: either black or silver if the wheels are silver. Badges should be painted only, they are beautiful and historical, consistent with your configuration. In general, don't forget that in Art "less is more." All of this only reflects my tastes, of course.
I like your idea. For calipers it really depends on the wheel choice. I would suggest the carbon wheels and that means you could do almost color- though probably not red because it would not match the Magma paint, or blue might be too much. Yellow would be distinctively sporty. I would probably pick black, or, Silverstone (the grey color for calipers, this will more or less match the tone of the CF). Pick a color if you want to call attention to the calipers. My opinion is theres no need to call attention to the calipers. There are other body elements to call attention. If you want to get any kind of interesting stripe or details you probably need to go to Atelier.
Maybe because it's the one you have 3 of? We have a Fuoco 296 at our dealer. I love it. It actually gave me a pinkish impression under direct sunlight. However both Fuoco and Maranello have a dark "off-angle" (where there isn't any direct light hitting it). I'm looking for a color that doesn't look too dark even at night. Here are some pics of the Fuoco 296 (also note the unpainted calipers): Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Looking at these pictures again I might reconsider...
I love these deep reds, I really do. I've been considering Libano for a long time. But this is not the kind of spec I'm going for this time. I like these with say a cuoio, iroko, or sabbia leather interior. But these specs work on a base 296 or 12C, even the 812, cars with a balance of elegance and sportiness. The Speciale to me has ditched a lot of elegance to lean towards a very sporty look, which likewise warrants a sporty spec.
I'm not going with CF wheels for a number of reasons. Might buy them later though to have 2 sets. As for the calipers I despise yellow calipers with red paint. Just looks childish to me, and the yellow pulls the red paint in the orange direction which is the opposite of what I want. I would only do red if I can paint match it to the body color, instead of just rosso corsa. I also agree with you, it doesn't make sense to pull attention to the calipers if there is no reason to. It's like when someone paints the lower exterior parts in a bright color. It looks novel at first, but there's a reason the designers chose to paint those parts black. First and foremost, what differentiates a good spec from a bad one is if the logic behind it is clear or not.
After using them for 500km: Cons: - A hassle to wear and remove - The belt rubs against your neck , it can get very painful - Every new passenger needs to re-adjust - once worn you can't really move, grabbing something from behind the seat is near impossible - buckle can hit and scratch the CF in not removed carefully - I don't feel any more held-in than normal belts, this might change on track though - If you think about it they're more dangerous in the event of a crash. The 3 point belt is designed to rotate your body so the airbag hits the side of your face, it also has some give. The 4-point is rigid but there is nothing securing your neck in place, there's a high chance it will snap forward and break. There were meant to be used with a HANS device and helmet, but you're not doing that in street driving. Pros: - They look cool - The will probably hold you better on track with a helmet and HANS. I don't know why they won't just do what porsche does and put both. Problem solved.
Harnesses are dangerous for street driving, more so if you cinch them tight. They keep you from hitting the airbag, meaning your neck is going to take all the force. Very bad!
If you might get the CF wheels then I suggest to order with the CF wheels and see if you can order a set of metal wheels along with the car. I would not trust buying CF wheels unless direct from Ferrari and the aftermarket price is astronomical (or, I should say, it was the last time I checked) Magma also becomes a bit dark when it’s in the shade, like the others. I had Maranello on a car, it’s gorgeous, but Magma is more of a “show car” color. Maranello is just a touch more “mature”.
Yes, Maranello much more beautiful…I’m still considering it. I miss it. Magma has an interesting Salmon overtime in some light. I’ve only seen it a few times, but didn’t love that aspect of it, otherwise a very excellent color.
The other thing about colors- they might work great on one shape, and size, and not so well on another. Between the two, it’s close. I think the Magma is more WOW, and the Maranello is more mature and subtle. For the Speciale I would be drawn to the wow factor, but, we are experience colors a bit differently.
Definitely. I’ll be asking TM if there is another option since I’ve had both of them already. I’m hoping Rosso supercar is an option.
I find Supercar to be something kind of like a toned down Magma. It would not be for me. But you should see it in person and decide. I did like how it looked on the F80.
I'd recommend adding Rosso Coburn to your list. Rosso F1 2007 and Rosso TRS are also great metallic red colors, but I think they will be too light colored for what you are looking for. 100% agree with all of this. I have seen Rosso Coburn on a Pista in person and it definitely has the wow factor.
I don’t think this will come out great, but the car is magma, upper left fuoco, lower left supercar, upper right libano, lower right Maranello.
I really hope they open up Rosso Supercar to (only) the Speciale (at least for next few years). It would be a cool (and smart...$$$) way to link F80 to 296S/A similar to how they thru a few Enzo bits in the Challange Stradale.
Rosso Supercar is already available among the 3/4 layer options. None of the orange tint I dislike. Thanks for the pics.
I see what you mean with the color. But I love a sparkly and dynamic color, I can't help myself. As for the interior, I'm still debating how much blue I want. I don't want an interior that's too colorful. Contrast is good. But then again, the roof, floor mats, back of the seat, doors, dashboard, center tunnel are all black. I thought seats, wheel and lower dash in blue is "just enough". Thank you for the input.
Completely agree. For example I don't like yellows much, but on the 12Cilindri I love Giallo Triplo Strato and Giallo Montecarlo. Color should be considered primarily on the car it's going on. Bronzo Masaru is one of my favorite colors, I would love to have it on a car soon, but I don't think it would work at all on the Speciale.
