Bump. Mine has the squeal during soft acceleration when I'm near a barrier wall on the interstate I can hear it echo off the barrier. CHIRP-CHIRP-CHIRP.....so annoying.

Yea I'm gping to bump this .

My 488 is the same sqeaking when I'm coasting or turning left slightly. But if I turn the wheel right it all stops.

So I don't see this at all being related to brake pads ....
    Anyone ?

I just purchased a 2017 488 yesterday and the squeaking is already driving me crazy. And it’s exactly how others have described when you’re coasting at low speed or turning left. Glad to know it doesn’t seem to be related to something that’s going to be a costly fix. But I like others would greatly appreciate any feedback from previous commenters. Does the bedding process that others have referred to stop this type of squeaking? I could care less about squeaky brakes when I’m actually braking. Plenty of my cars have squeaked. but I’ve never had a car that squeaks while I’m coasting. Thanks to all in advance!

Wow! Did you ever get a concrete answer from the dealer? Well so far I love the car and am not ready to sell it just yet...but who knows if this never gets resolved. I've read so many posts and internet searches and it seems like a fairly common complaint. Just can't imagine Ferrari didn't address this. Even if you watch Matt from CarWow's review of the car some years back, he complains about the noise. I've also watched various reviewers drive the car and you'll hear it in the background faintly. Anyway, taking it for an oil change at the dealer in a few weeks. Let's see if they have any answer.

curious. I have this too - no brakes applied whatsoever, but a squeak. Did anyone actually figure this out. In my case it disappears when the brakes are applied; find it hard to believe that its brakes related. Heat does seem to be a factor as it is intermittent - only seemingly happens after driving for a bit and especially in warmer weather.

Lots of bedding related feedback but a bunch of people still with symptoms and the feedback seems similar to mine, while moving and not necessarily applying the brakes.

    Anyone solve this mystery?

unfortunately sounds like there’s not a definitive solution for this. I’ve received feedback saying to bed the breaks (good luck finding any place to do these stops and high speeds safely), change the brake fluid to a racing kind (just did a break flush at the dealer no difference), chafer the pads down (don’t want to mess with that or reduce the wear of the pads). I’ve just accepted that it’s gonna be like this unfortunately. If you find a definitive answer that works for you please let me know!

So weird to me that this seems to be focused on being a brake issue but the brakes arent being applied. This is during coasting with no brakes applied and in my case, applying the brakes makes the sound disappear. I really don't think this is a seating thing if its not happening when the brakes are being engaged.

I agree with you. I have the exact same issue. As soon as I brake, the chirping goes away, but then the carbon ceramic brake squeal comes on ha ha. The only explanation I’ve been offered is that when you take your foot off the gas to coast the system goes into the pre-fill Setting where the pads get super close to the rotors and if they are glazed, that’s what’s making the sound. I think it’s all hogwash frankly. As it only comes from one side of the car and you also get it when you accelerate in the 2k-3.5k rpm range as well. And just like you turning left brings it out. I recently had my car serviced by the dealership and they couldn’t find anything. They said they cleaned the brakes and the sound went away. They were right it was gone for all of 20 minutes after I drove the car home and now it’s back. If you can find a definitive answer for this, you will be forever my hero ha ha. Good luck

Having the same issue with my F8. It does seem to go away for a little while after pressure washing my brakes. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.

I used to have to grease the top and bottom of the pads so they slide on the rails of old cars. It used to squeak, squeak as I drove down the roads. Touch brake pedals and it goes away. Pads used to just not back off enough from the disks and cause it. Sounds silly, but a little lube helped the pads back off just a touch better. Haven't had my pads off my 2018 488 yet. Haven't had this issue except squealing when braking...thats just par for the course on these brakes I think. Cheers!

Almost sounds like the caliper is not centered around the rotor and needs to be shimmed.
