430 In Search of Crankshaft for F430

Have you reached out to Ferr Parts in Sacramento?

 

Not that I rebuild engines regularly, but I search for parts often and I very rarely find engine parts on their own unless it was from a damaged engine. It's usually entire engines that were pulled from wrecked cars. There are few scenarios where a shop would want to part out an engine that doesn't result in questionable quality of parts. Can yours not be machined?

Man I'm just curious what happened to your crankshaft.?? Loss of oil pressure.?
Not a common failure for these 430's at least from all I have read.

What could you possibly do to a 430 crankshaft that cannot be repaired? Sounds like time for another opinion.

I agree with comments about finding a 430 crank on its own. Best to buy an entire engine and sell the leftovers.

By the way, your profile is nearly blank. Makes it harder for people who want to help. Not really the thing you want to do.

 

I'm really not understanding all these Ferrari engine failures that pop up on this site. I have been servicing these things for 30 years almost. I have maybe seen 4 or 5 total failures in that time.
My question, are you 100% sure the car needed extensive engine work?

 

Definitely give Moldex a call. Usually thrust surfaces can be welded up and reground.

 

I was going to say, I think i've seen worse damage fixed before. But everyone has their "risk factors"

 

I don't see why that couldn't be fixed. Does anyone make oversize crank thrust washers? If so, maybe could skip the welding and just grind it.

 

Time to find a new shop. These guys are idiots.

A. A clutch never "pulls" on a crank. Its impossible. The time to diagnose it properly is now. It has not been done.
B. Fixing the thrust on a crank, its done at good crank shops every day. No big deal and its way easier, faster and cheaper than finding a good used Ferrari crankshaft.

If a crank is not cracked, it can be fixed.

 

Why go to all the trouble and expense? There are hundreds of good crank shops who do simple fixes like this all the time
Jesus, you dont go to NASA because you are having trouble gluing the fins on a model rocket.

 

Its a matter of common courtesy. You want to get help from us and be secretive too? Non starter.
