You alright my friend keep being you, you too old to be changed :D
We have different ideals, I want peace, simplicity, acceptance and love in my life and I am grateful for everything that’s positive and comes my way, you seem to focus on the negative aspect (or at least that’s how you come across online) and hang on to the past to the bitter end, this might bring you personal joy and inner peace and if that’s the case go for it, highly doubt that’s the case and certainly not healthy but hey whatever makes you happy I say go for it. I have nothing against you just a bit of banter.

Yes sir, std 296 gts. I really like the drive, it would be comfortable to use every day. The form factor, like my SRS makes it easy to handle and zip around compared to my 812 GTS for example. I just wish they did a better job with the controls but I guess we've said enough about that.

Which is weird because when I test drove the 12C it felt like a 296 with a V12. They're my two favorite Ferraris to drive. I'm curious to hear opinions from those who own both.

I dunno….it’s even larger delta, at least on a percentage basis, between a 488 and a Pista.

I really don't like the look of the 12C (coming from a 812 GTS), so will probably pass. @day355 - will be in your "hood" soon - Hope I can spy a 296 Speciale in the flesh :). Keep the info coming !!!

Indeed, I can confirm that day355 is 100% human, a true petrolhead (although a little narrow minded when it comes to new technologies- sorry my friend, I had to say that ) and of course a Ferrari owner !

The intangible is the styling with the 488 getting a lukewarm reception whereas the Pista was a design turned up to '12' effortlessly.

The driving experience also mirrors the styling delta between 488 and Pista vs 458 Italia and Speciale. JMHO.

    It's pretty expensive.

Prior Ferrari non-Special V12s have depreciated heavily in a few years.

Chassis finally exorcised the floatiness and shuffling around I felt on F12, 812, Lusso but somehow the experience was less exciting than 812 and prior. Chassis evolution and control answered my prior complaints though.

Which left me thinking what would I use it for over 296? It's a bit stealthier and a bit more luggage space which is nice but especially in its subdued stock sound config I enjoy driving the 296 better.

I finally received confirmation from the dealer that I will be getting a Speciale (at some point). Having just received the 296 GTS, I can tell you that my wife (and kids) are just blown away at how the 296 GTB could become even more fun to own and drive with the arrival of the 296 GTS. The fun, and tricky, dilemma now is whether we keep or sell the 296 GTS when the 296 Speciale eventually comes.

We have a 12C Spider eventually arriving too, which makes me wonder, based on comments here, if that will fill the spot of a very fun to drive spider. The fact that the rear window can lower on the 296 GTS is just so ridiculously enjoyable when it comes to hearing the engine do its thing.

Very very 1st world dilemmas, that I'm thankful to even have the opportunity to banter about.

I'm not sure if it's ever happened to you, but for me, there are cars that, at first, my eye just doesn't see the beauty in the design. Then one day, something just clicks, and I see it.

Yesterday, the 488 Spider front end finally did that. I saw a Rosso Corsa one driving down the road in opposite traffic, and I think seeing it from the eye level of a car as it approached finally did it. The Pista was a winner from photos, and it was even better in person.

The next car that I've experienced this, more recently, has been the 12 Cilindri. I saw in the flesh as a preview during Ferrari Challenge, and perhaps because the room was so small, the coupe just didn't click for me right away. Then I saw it on the road recently (dealer demo), and it all made sense.

I also think it started to grow on me as I had a chance to spend time with the 812 Competizione in the flesh, and I realized there were aspects of it that just didn't excite me as much as I thought it would that I think there 12 Cilindri Spider will check the right boxes.

296 Speciale, in all honesty, didn't have that love at first sight moment for me that the 458 Speciale & the 488 Pista did. We'll see if that changes as we start to see it in the flesh!

I agree that some cars take a while to warm up to. In the case of the 12 Cilindri it was a picture at the restaurant that unlocked that design for me. It is often how a design relates to other vehicles that gives a greater perception of a new design.
One of the most significant design features of the 12 Cilindri is the stance of the car; especially noticeable in the side profile. Congratulations on getting a 12 Cilindri allocation,

Don't understand the dislike for hybrid - guys like you help older Ferrari's appreciate and the new ones depreciate.
Going to a C&C and guys talking haptic / hybrid etc - they look like jealous fools.
No one wants to hear a grown man be insecure, same guys say it like anyone cares but their b*tch club - get over it.

Can you imagine all the hybrid owners going up to older F owners and disrpesecting their pride and joy,
No one asked your approval - I think you are a good guy but damn dude - have some self respect.

12 cylinder Ferraris are battery drainers- So says my Ferrari master technician.

No battery tender- good luck not seeing all sorts of fault messages- or no start at all.

These are all complex cars. Doesn’t make them bad. The results create a car that either fits your desires or not. No car is perfect- they cannot be as they are all based on engineering trade offs.

People are afraid of the unknown. In time- these cars will gain respect as people realize there aren’t battery problems and maintenance costs are similar to prior models.

In time people will also realize they are superior sports cars in almost every way. In the mean time I will purchase pre-owned and be thankful for the bargains to be had.

On the bright side I can sell my appreciated inferior Ferraris and Porsches and purchase superior hybrids. :)

I don't think it's people being afraid - it's lacking funds and making up excuses.
918 P1 LaF - expensive to maintain - comes down to supply and demand.

We all have common passions, agreements and divergences, and there is no problem with that... I did not wake up one morning and say to myself that I do not like hybrids. I have been passionate about the brand since I was 14 (it was JC Andruet's best friend who took me on outings as a passenger at that time...), and I am 47... so I have followed, like many here, all the stages and mutations of the brand, and as much as before there were things with which I could deal, as much as this is not possible... you cannot blame me for having an argued opinion and sticking to it, even if it is different from yours... it is only my opinion, and if the general opinion on hybridization is the one you describe, it is because there are a lot of us who think the same thing... All of us gathered here, enthusiasts must represent, at most, 5% of the Ferrari clientele, and as you can see with the sales figures, hybrid sales are doing very well
