Good morning from the UK, joined today in the hope for some information on the Daytona I’m currently building for the Modena Rally in October but I have two weeks get it built for a shake down in its first race at snetterton already had all four corners built up and restored, engines been done but I’m now onto the electrics. Has anyone got any electrical diagrams that wouldn’t mind sharing? regards Glenn

Hi, I cannot help, but this is not the right subforum - you should rather post in the "Vintage (through 365 GTC/4)" section.

Based on my experience with Daytonas, however limited it might be, I would recommend tracing & reconstructing/repairing any malfunctioning wiring circuits individually in the car as needed, especially if time is limited.

Over the years I've come across copies of four different factory drawn/engineered wiring diagrams (for early/late/Euro/US, all presumably for LHD, non-comp. cars) and learned long ago that none are anywhere near accurate or complete, so using one or another may not provide reasonable enough information to help you, but should you wish to try, get a copies of factory workshop or owners manuals.

So, based on aforementioned experiences and information, I've so far drawn two relatively (80%-90% ?) accurate & complete diagrams (one for mid-to-late production US market & mid-to-late Euro market cars) but found that cars even within those perimeters had some discrepancies and/or inaccuracies in their OEM(?) wiring harnesses.

    Good luck.

My guess is that a "1969" version of the Owners Manual would be the closest to what you would want for a Comp-ish car, if for no other reasons than the 69 version won't have things like the headlight motors, nor any of the US-spec lighting/switching...

All things considered, the wiring is not that complicated, but dealing with the wiring on any car is a real pain unless you have two people (so that you can have a pair of testing hands (and a pair of eyes) at each end of a questioned connection).

One thing along the lines that Timo is warning about has to do with the color of wires; I think those often differ between the diagrams and the cars (at least they do on mine), so best to not put too much stock in what color is stated in the diagrams...

If really building racecar it would be lighter, faster, and more reliable to just custom wire from scratch or use a basic painless wiring type base harness to start. A lot of custom wiring needs to be done for racecars anyway like cutoff switch preferable solinoid based, cool suit, cameras, oil and tans coolers, AIM dash, and fire systems.

this is very true, it was originally a road car that’s been converted, I’ve already chased most of the wiring that was disconnected and all seem to be lives to the fuse box.

side lights wired to the indicators which I sorted out yesterday, next task is get the light loom working.

I have no colour or readable wiring diagrams only what I’ve found online which was limited, but the car is coming along nicely and we have made some new parts like the brakes and bells which are lighter and stronger than the original, I’ll add pictures to the build as I go.
But thank you for your reply.

This would be easier but time frame isn’t on our side, if we wasn’t racing in two weeks, so some things aren’t important but the car needs to be fully functioning electrical wise for October when we do the Modena Rally.
Literally plumbing in fire bottle, had a new bag tank made to go in the boot lots of bits and pieces, but I’ll share pictures along the build.

Just out of curiosity, did you acquire the car already converted or did you do all the modifications yourself ?
Care to share any engine & other drivetrain specs or upgrades ?

I traced out a wiring diagram with colored sharpies. I thought I may have had a photo of it.....sorry, I don't.
New owner has it in his stash.
I agree with the above guys.....tracing it out individually is the way to go.
Mine didn't really match the wiring diagram that it was supposed to be

This may not help in anyway.
Here is a photo of the relay panel labeled. Not sure I took this photo. May be from a fellow owner. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Over the years I've found number of variations in mounting location/orientation of the relays on the board, even in just mid-to-late production U.S. market cars, so caution & individual verification for each is recommended.

I think this car must be #14321.

    If 14321, then here's a pic taken 2018.
It was converted in 1994 to "comp specs" with updated suspension, roll cage, addition of perspex headlamp covers and widened rear wheel arches. Owned by Richard Chester (he sold it 2005).

I think the previously mentioned “shake down race” event is scheduled for this weekend.
