WOW. To quote "this re-launch really highlights our commitment to excellence, growth and learning." So he renames a company and that act demonstrates commitment to excellence, growth, and learning??? How? What? Why? Just a wind bag. Can anyone explain that? He should concentrate on winning races, but without a car that's 1 to 2 seconds a lap faster than the others, I don't think winning is possible for him. So he does other stupid irrelevant stuff. Sad for our beloved Ferrari.
Unlike 2021, he won't have a "special [Illegal] engine"; [allegedly] since he is no longer being favored by MB/FIA.
Again, unlike 2021, he won't have a "special [Illegal] engine"; [allegedly] since he is no longer being favored by MB/FIA.
That’s great!!! He should retire immediately so he can put all of his focus and energy into this new venture.
When they announced that He was going to Ferrari - I said it would not go well... and I hate to be right but I am. I'm actually shocked at how badly its gone, with almost no glimmer of hope. I think he is doing himself a lot of harm staying too long in F1. He should retire and move to WEC, win LeMans and then try Indy while he can. or better still take Ferrari back to Indy. ( I know that is a pipe dream ) but it would at least give him a chance to go out on top. I dont rate him the best ever like many do, but He is in the top 20 all time. maybe even top 10 but un likely. The stats are distorted by having so many races each year. 30 years ago there were maybe 15-16 races tops, and in the 70's maybe 12 or so. Many far better drivers win rates are lower because of less races available.... He is however a good solid driver and actually a nice person - when you meet him individually.
I blame the man who engineered that move: John Elkann. The Scuderia gained absolutely nothing from it.
Anybody blaming Williams Tp that hired Sainz? Albon 8th Sainz 17th in standings. Or does he get a pass?
However good, it’s not ideal. Ideally he would get sacked with dishonor and blacklisted from ever purchase a Ferrari again.
This is true ... but ... win rates are rates, so they don't depend on the number of races at all. Sadly F1 will never be as good (or as dangerous) as the good old days.
Do we really need another Hamilton thread? What’s going to be said that hasn’t already been said? Seriously.
I'm sure SOMEONE does, but not me. Most threads have to many reiterations. I think the "shut up and drive" thread should cover most everything.
Yep. That famous photo before the French F1 at Reims shows 7 or 8 drivers, 5 of whom would be dead within 12 months says it all. As Moss said. The good old days when racing was dangerous, and sex was safe.
Lewis threads are like piñatas. No matter how many swings you take you just can’t help taking one more.
Win rates are win rates and I think if you measure success by that Fangio and Clark still come out at the top or very close. The number of races matters as it increases the opportunity for a win.
100%. I don't have anything against Hamilton - he's doing the work that I'd never be able to do, so who am I, but from following F1 for almost 60 years, you can tell when a driver is done... and He has been checking those boxes for a while now. As a 59 year Ferrari fan, you can also tell who will do poorly at Ferrari.. and again Hamilton checked all those boxes as well. Schumacher was almost there, but Montezemolo gave Todt enough cloud cover to make it happen. Raikkonen just squeaked by... and Alonso did not have enough coverage to survive - while his own toxic behavior did not help as well. Drivers that are successful at Ferrari have come early in their career, and found a home there... vs. raced and been WDC elsewhere and moved to Ferrari. Established Champions almost never did well at Ferrari. Fangio, Schumacher are the only ones that come to mind that won with other teams and had success at Ferrari. Hawthorne, Surtees, Lauda, Scheckter, Raikkonen all came as solid racers, but they carved out their niche at Ferrari. Fangio almost failed and had a horrible time with Enzo, while Schumacher dominated the entire team. Ferrari is NOT a place for champions to go to, its a place to build yourself into a Champion. Prost, Alonso, Vettel all failed at Ferrari due to politics, and inability to deal with "Ferrari life".... its a real thing.
1. Lee WALLARD 1 win 50% win rate 2. Juan Manuel FANGIO 24 wins 47.06% win rate 3. Alberto ASCARI 13 wins 40.63% win rate 4. Bill VUKOVICH 2 wins 40% win rate 5. Jim CLARK 25 wins 34.72% win rate 6. Michael SCHUMACHER 91 wins 29.64% win rate 7. Max VERSTAPPEN 65 wins 29.02% win rate 8. Lewis HAMILTON 105 wins 28.30% win rate 9. Jackie STEWART 27 wins 27.27% win rate (I didn't make this up! ) 10. Alain PROST 51 wins 25.63% win rate
In the case of Lee WALLARD 1 win 50% win rate, the sample (2 races) is too small to be accepted in statistics. It could be the same for Bill VUKOVICH 2 wins 40% win rate (5 races).
LMAO. But in all honesty, I didn't check how many other threads exist in his shietness' name, saw him fubar again at Zaandvort and just had to slang shiet his way and reiterate how much I think he sucks.
