You are spot on. By any metric this car is among the highest performing production cars built. Did Ferrari produce a bit too many perhaps but I would argue those that are selling their cars prior to breaking them in simply don’t know what they are missing. The only weakness to this car is the haptic buttons on the steering wheel. A very minor issue considering how good this car is all around.

 

I love your optimism, but for now no one wants it second-hand, and the longer time goes by the more expensive its maintenance will become, and even less will want it... If we weren't so far apart, I would bet a meal in a very good restaurant with you.

 

They're moving here, for the right price. In all seriousness, this is the best driving Ferrari I've experienced. That counts for at least something, at the end of the day. By your account, I'll really love the 296M. Maybe we lucky and the displacement goes up into the 3's!. For now, I'm just enjoying the ride.

And I'd gladly pay for dinner if we ever cross paths!

 

I got mine used and then ordered a new one a few months later understanding it'd be a loss from MSRP to do the swap. So I don't hate the car overall but there are definitely annoying things to some people besides the tech.

But I hate the lack of steering feel (despite loving the amazing agility).

Like the display (even carplay in the middle of the main display even without the tach) but the input side of the tech is from annoying to a disaster. Fine I can hit the back button a few times to activate things and pick up my phone to select a new Carplay app but try adjusting the mirrors in a hurry.

Check engine notification doesn't let you know it's a minor problem.

I think it's just a Ferrari problem (not just 296) but last year and this year have had cars down for months because a part isn't in the US and the factory is closed. And that was after 3 service visits some a few weeks to figure out this part was the problem.

Anyway it's not just the tech - if I went down to 3 cars the 296 wouldn't be one of them. The Speciale maybe if the steering is less creepy though I'm not counting on that.

when interest rates fall the whole $$$ car world will be on fire with sales. The younger generation doesn't pay cash...they may not have it and or are not as risk adverse and Gen Xer's or Boomers.

 

It's funny because I've mentioned the 296M that @day355 has noted and everyone at the dealership flatly denies it.

so the replacement for the 296 won't come out until after 2027?

 

I couldn’t get a good read of the color. Never heard of it and the pictures didn’t give me a feel. Bummer.

 

I got essentially got the same off from MSRP on a 24 GTB with 548 miles from the same place…

 

Me too on the GTB. The GTS is harder. That’s the first essentially new one I have seen that deeply discounted.

 

That's a good looking car, why did you move so slowly? Seems like a great deal.

 

I was on a plane. My wife wasn’t a fan of the exterior color (typically- I want to stay married). In pictures it looks gray, black and or blue- sort of dull. I think it’s probably very nice. I thought the dealers pictures weren’t great to get a read on an unknown color. I made an offer (because my wife wasn’t sure) and then was told it was sold. In hindsight- I should have just moved at list. And there will be more as people are still getting their GTS’s and selling for the Speciale or the next shiny something. So odd- they don’t even drive them.

 

I suspect there are far more orphan cars that were not actually taken for delivery than the online listings would let on... at 262 miles that could be a few months of test drives and maintenance drives at the dealer. But you're right: it's buyers taking delivery to punch their Subway card towards a Speciale or limited car, or, orders whose buyers didn't follow through when the car arrived. And for those who signed the paperwork and took the car, well, they're showing the market that they are limiting their losses on depreciation by not driving it; hard to say how much cheaper it could have been even with 2,000 or 4,000 miles!

 

I cant imagine my wife being a deciding factor, she is numb to my car buying issues.

 

Looks kind of like a dark Blu Roma. Almost like Blu Simond. Don't think it's either. Whatever it is, I love it. But, I'm a sucker for blues.

 

My wife is very involved with my car selections from a design/ color coordination perspective. It makes it more fun for me to have her involvement.

 

+1 mine is tolerant, but not enthusiastic about the cars. Sometimes I think it would be fun to have her be involved and have opinions other than the budget , but then a fair bit of the time I appreciate the latitude and letting me decide what I want.

I missed out on that same GTS today at Boardwalk Ferrari But it may not be an anomaly.
I do have an opportunity to order a 296 Speciale (not GTS) so not sure how well those are really moving if I am being offered one…
