Earlier they had mentioned that the 34 BOS would be shown at the Breakers on Friday - [IMG]

I dont see mention of this Friday event anywhere on the last newsletter.

I assume most everyone will be staying in Boca now and not at the Breakers due to the distance.

The Boca Raton Resort is 30 miles south of the Breakers and about a 45-60 minute drive depending on traffic. Really no fast easy way to get there.

It sucks. It was going to be awesome to see all 34 BOS at once.

I imagine convincing all 34 best of shows to come isn't an easy task.

I am, along with my wife considering on attending this Cavallino event, and staying at the Boca Raton, maybe bring my Ferrari.
Have not yet been able to find out parking details - hope self - parking in a covered area/garage is allowed at the Boca Raton but not yet been
    able to find out.

Anyone with information about this important detail?

Assuming it really happens. Do you know how hard it was to get all 6 Bugatti Royales in one place on the same day?

I can imagine. I honestly don’t think they have a chance to get all 34 to show. Only way it could be remotely possible would be to pay their expenses to entice them to come.

That’s the problem now IMO. I even know local collectors who won’t enter their cars anymore because it’s become such a hassle and is a major liability. Unless they are chasing an award to prime for an upcoming sale they just aren’t interested anymore.

Fortunately we still have a lot of collectors who enjoy sharing the cars with those of us with a like mind.
Reminds me of the response of two very high profile household name collectors who when invited to attend FCA Road America last year. One was "You bet, I'd love to bring it". The other, "Will you cover my expenses?". One extremely supportive collector was told "No, you cannot bring the entire collection. We do not have enough room."

Theres a covered garage in the back corner of the property for employees im guessing which you could throw your car in. There is also a covered valet lot.

Yet, I recall hearing/reading (even in this forum) that at least one such collector had dozen+ (20+ ?) cars in attendance and I can only imagine what any first time and/or single car attendee applicant(s) might've felt if they were told "Sorry, we have a full field already" and later learning this having been the cause/reason.
Hopefully nothing like that occurred ...

You must be a lot of fun to be around. You always look for the worst in people and every situation and have the worst case expectation for every situation.

If my mind worked that way I'd just eat a bullet.

Come on Brian! :D Between attacking Cavallino and then attacking people in the model sections for technical posts, YOU are exactly "look for the worst in people and every situation"! :D Not a problem, we're use to it, but don't be hypocritical. :D

The more I think about it the more sense it makes…..After all, Ferrari itself is now more Boca Raton than Palm Beach….;)

Im sad that we wont see that beautiful procession down the Breakers long driveway anymore.

The Boca Raton has narrower driveway and they dont have the beautiful background of the Breakers.

I wonder if the Breakers said enough after the mess of last year?

I'm sure a major deciding factor was the fact that they weren't able to do an auction there. IMO all these events now want to focus on the auction side because that's where the real profit is. Auctions make money on both ends from the buyer and seller, the "concours" is just a side show at this point. Just look at what Pebble does.

I think the divorce probably started before last year because these changes take some planning. Still, the perception is that it was more the property’s decision than the event’s and perception is reality in terms of prestige and reputation.

I'm done with Cavallino, personally. The appeal of the weekend to me was the way the event fit perfectly on PB.

Time to stop drafting on the town's likeness and rename it "The Boca Raton Cavallino Classic."

I take your point, but having attended every PB Cavallino Classis since its inception, I can't quite bring myself to break with tradition, so I plan to stay at The Breakers and drive down to Boca for the day on Saturday for the concorso.
As for ripping off the "Palm Beach" moniker, I guess they'd argue that the event is still situated in PB County (as opposed to the island of PB), but that line has always struck me as being a bit disingenuous every time I've heard it.
