We had a very similar experience when driving the Cavalcade in Venice. In our case Ferrari had to replace one of the two catalysator as apparently a valve was stuck in the car. Nothing to do with battery and we were surprised about all the alarms for that reason. We heard this was not a single incident. After change the car runs flawless and we enjoy her a lot

What's not functional - I have no idea what your point is. Sold my 296GTS zero issues, next owner gets a great car at massive discount, depreciating asset.
Ferrari gives VIP's more winners than losers - it's not for the faint of heart and this isn't new or due to the hybrid. First it was the Pista turbo - that came and went. Some people are resistant to change - Ferrari does focus on that group.

The point is, if Ferrari only looks after their VIPs who do not really use their cars, and do not care about the other customers, they will struggle to keep on selling 15,000 cars a year.
This is just a comment on the business model, I am currently not a Ferrari VIP nor a customer for a new Ferrari, so I have no horse (not even a cavallino :p ) in this race.

I just heard that Lambo plans to make a sedan. It feels the business models are changing. selling SUVs and cars and over-producing dilutes the brand. look at Porsche. Cayanne, Taycan, Macan...list goes on. Even the GT3s its crazy. I go to Cars and Coffee and the number of Porsche and GT cars i see...was not the case 5-10 years ago.

I have a question on my Speciale build. There is an option called “REAR WINGS IN GLOSSY CARBON FIBER”, and it is $11,648 USD. It’s basically carbon on the inside of the rear wings. It looks kinda cool in the pics. The standard no cost version is painted in the car color. Does anyone have thoughts on this option? I’m kinda torn, just because of the final cost of my build is crazy high. Trying to trim some cost without killing the vibe.

this seems like the least impactful exterior carbon option to me...

really tough to assess from the various pictures and videos so far. I think you would have to see it live to make a decision one way or the other. I am sure some on this board have seen one live, I am curious as well.

Is that confirmed? When changed it on the configurator, it looked plastic to me.

That looks like carbon to me. You can see the weave. What are you trying to show?

The dealership told me it was body paint color. Maybe they are wrong. I thought I was showing red instead of black plastic. But I do see the weave now.

Looks slick. I don't know if it's $11.6k slick. But I like it.

You have to look really closely to see it - cool detail but the easiest $11.6k to not spend if you're trying to cut costs in some places.

My problem is that if I don’t spec it, it’s all I will look at. If I do, I won’t think about the $11k, but rather how it ties in with the rest.

it's subtle but worth it imo as it's a nice little addition to make the car even more special

Right and I know that feeling, turned down the 599GTO because I went with other brands. Those lines are much much shorter - Mac Lambo Aston all great brands.
Luckily a local P dealer opened F dealer- I made the change back to Ferrari an Porsche
Ferrari has a line around the block waiting to become a VIP. If you were right the stock would reflect it.
You can resist change or embrace it - either way they are going forward.
VIP's use their cars - daily a Ferrarieven in winter. Yes some guys play the game but it's their choice their money, I stopped worrying about what someone else's business model is a long time ago - it's as you say "driving" not a financial burden.

This is very interesting. Do you know if this body panel is made of carbon fiber to begin with, and then painted, thus the option is just revealing the carbon fiber underneath; or, is this area built in metal and then they add some carbon fiber as maybe a kind of insert? I wonder if part of the option is the fact that you are replacing a metal or other material with CF, for example, like with the diffuser, you know you are replacing the standard plastic part.

When I looked quickly it was hard to tell, but zooming in and bringing up the brightness on the monitor showed me what you are all discussing and I understand why you feel the dilemma. Id probably fall into the in for a penny, in for a pound camp that most of you seem to be heading. Though I do agree at some point you have to decide when the madness has to stop.

For that price I'd really hope it is a new piece that replaces metal.

I always wondered why it cost big money for exposed carbon parts, when the same part is carbon but painted for no extra cost. so I asked my sales guy told me why. He said the often carbon parts have visual defects in the weave. So, those cannot be used as exposed carbon. However, those cosmetically inferior parts can be painted and used. Best non-Ferrari example. The new Aston Valhalla exterior is 100% carbon. You can get most of the black areas in carbon for about $200k. The no charge option is painted black. It’s the exact same carbon parts, just not exposed carbon finish.
