I’ve made this post for years. Manzoni is matching corners of cars like corners on buildings.

every person has their own opinion... to me this car improves a lot than the sf90... better than the mundane 12 cilindari design. it reminds me the poster cars of the 80s.. visually striking..... eye catching... but.. Manzoni's trend to copy past models needs to be stopped. there are ICONAs which are inspired by the past.. and Ferrari need to replace Manzoni with a new C. designer... people need to change taste.....

Has Ferrari become allergic to aggressive or sexy headlights? What is the fetish with the black front strip? I will admit, this is a better looking car to me than the SF90, but that is a pretty low bar to begin with. Will this era go down as the very worst of Ferrari design?

I've been asking myself the exact same question. The black strip more than anything seems like an easy "get out of jail" freecard to avoid designing headlights.

I did not like the design of the SF90 when I first saw it, but it has grown on me and I do like it a lot now. I absolutely despise this 849. It does not look good at any angle in my opinion.

80s car it most reminds me of is a Countach. Angles for angles, mish mash styling and out of proportion.

"I do not like cars with faces" is a direct quote of his and he's definatly making these cars more xenomorph-like with each iteration. Can Ferrari get back with Pininfarina already? This has gone wayyyy to far.

Sadly for me, it may be the design element I like least from all the cars in Ferrari's back catalog. Daytonas without the black strip look infinitely better to my eyes.

I hope he moves on soon.

Trying too hard to avoid a face on a car is Manzoni’s downfall. He should have embraced it to make a beautiful face instead of these abominations….

i applaud ferrari trying to be bold here, i mean this goes against what people think of ferrari and how a car like this should look like

this is gonna be a wild discussion for awhile

Ferrari and BMW styling appear to be following the same general guidelines...Bold and Conversation Starters...mostly negative unfortunately. If we can get a poll started here by someone that knows how to set it up would be awesome. helps get a quick snapshot of whether we are 50/50 or biased in one direction. i need to see the car in person but candidly this is what i was not expecting.

He shouldn’t be designing cars like a soffit detail or a capital.

In fact, he believes that what dates a car are the headlights, and he is indeed right. But starting from this observation, there were several possibilities: redesign a legal pop-up style, create modern round headlights like those on the Aston Martin Valour, or use blade-style headlights as Aston also does. In any case, investment in headlights was necessary, which has been rejected to this day !

I still don't comprehend the hesitance for this. You'd expect it to be self-evident to invest in headlights when you sell cars at Ferrari's prices. In any case, such an expense should be easily offset through price adjustments. But I guess that's too risky for $RACE

I would say he doesn’t understand the nuance and sculptural element of car design. E.G. the 80’s Testarossa looks like it has a lot of straight lines and in fact there are very few. The F40 appears to have a lot of straight lines and there aren’t any. It’s subtle radius that sculpt the car. This is the organic nuance that PF have mastered over the years.

I suspect that hiding tiny headlights in a black band will also date these cars.

458 headlights still look pretty fresh to me...
