This is a sincere question for those much more informed than myself (I'm not making a judgement call wither way) - is this truly a special, exceptional and coveted car because of the Michelotto customization, or should it simply be considered a post production modified car based on the desires of the original owner. If these modifications were done by any other shoppe, would be heralded?

The holy grail are factory original.. they are only original once.. This GTO is a very special car and will be converted by its next owner.. Even to own one of the 272 is a privilege

Is this car still a part of an all-white collection, as it's been previously..?

    No, and has never been.
There is/was more than one repainted white 288.

40 years before the F80 was presented, the 288 GTO became the supercar in 1985. It can be seen here on the production line.

Let's not talk about age, it doesn't make us any younger at all.
Yes, it's one of the most beautiful ones along with the Testarossa and F40.

What is the price of a well maintained, low mile (not zero mile) 288 GTO now? $7M++?

The main problem is being able to source a no stories car, money is the secondary factor, If you can find one that is say 25K and is a good car, so nice history and maintained with a few owners this would be around 6 million. but finding this out of the 272 is not an easy task. Thats the problem with the 288 GTO, lots have driven backwards over the years and have a story.. Thats why a lot are having total restorations now.. the pool is very small
