Just like Lance Stroll, some drivers are "kept" in F1, even if they have no chance of winning anything.
What do you say about that ?

For most Q1 exits in F1 history? I doubt it.

You're comparing Lance Stroll to most F1 drivers and that's your problem. Lance Stroll is an enigma in F1. Lance Stroll doesn't confide to performance stats like most F1 drivers. Lance Stroll is an anomaly in F1.

It would be difficult at ascertain because the present system of qualifications is relatively new.
You emphasise too much on qualifs; it's race results that matter.
If you look at championship results, Lance has been 12th, 18th, 15th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 10th, and13th at the moment.
Apart from his second year, these stats place him midfield, which is all we have argued.
We have judged him to be a journeyman, never a title contender.

So qualifying isn't important then when you're:

    1) On the fastest tire
    2) Limited fuel load
    3) Optimum aero
    4) Traffic is somewhat light dependent on the track.

    Of course qualifying is important.

Lance Stroll isn't like most F1 drivers. He doesn't have to perform to keep his seat as long as dad is around while most do. Also Lance can crash his car to make the top 5 every season as long as dad is around.

So again, Lance isn't a journeyman driver in F1 with regards to stats. Lance is a "ghost" F1 driver with regards to all the stats that other F1 drivers are judged by.

There is no jeopardy, he is at no risk at losing his seat. All he has to do is keep his Dad happy. Lawrence has the delusional belief that by spending hundreds of millions of dollars his son can become a race winner or World Champion--to his father's glory. It's been awhile since we've heard one of the team leaders declare that he is a future world champion. Has Adrian commented or is he not required to do so by contract?

Qualifications are not important in the sense that you don't earn points there. Just like fastest lap.
They are kept for bragging rights. Look at Leclerc and his 27 Pole positions; what did that get him?

Yes Lance is in an ideal position: he is the boss' son. His father decides, not the armchair critics.

    Thank-you.

That's the ONLY reason why Lance Stroll is still in F1 because of his Dads say-so. Any other team, IF they chose him, would've been gone a long time ago.

Do you really believe Stroll Sr is that delusional ? I don't. You don't become a billionaire being stupid
I think he simply likes to watch his son racing, without any illusion about his skill.
He would have help his son in any other field, but it happened they are both interested in motor racing.
Father and son also look impervious to the criticisms and probably laugh at them too.

How can Lance be WDC when he can’t beat his elderly teammate most races? It doesn’t offend me that he has a seat. I would probably do the same for my son if I were in Mr. Stroll’s position.
