So this week my 2011 458 Italia decided to have the alarm go off every time it is armed after about 60 seconds. Is there a quick fix to the problem or is this best diagnosed at the dealer.

My 2014 458 Spider alarm goes off in a parking lot I go to often with no one around (same with my Portofino M and Maserati Gran Turismo). For my problem in the 458, I just use the physical key in the physical lock. This locks the door, but does not set the alarm.

Does your car say why it is going off?

    Alarm memory
If the CODE symbol (see page 116) appears on the left TFT
display for 10 seconds when the vehicle is started after system
diagnosis together with the message “Break-in attempted”, this
means that an intrusion has been attempted and has activated the
    alarm.
In this case, the system will indicate the reason for the alarm
activation according to the following priority:
    - LED off twice: lifting sensor alarm
    - LED off three times: door alarm
    - LED off four times: luggage compartment lid alarm
    - LED off five times: ignition key alarm.
The alarm system memory is reset by turning the ignition key.

I just started the car and no LED blinks. Does this mean it is the battery?

Always possible and worth looking into. I use the CTEK 7002 tenders and they let me know if the battery is having problems taking or keeping a charge, I've also used the "recondition" option on a few other cars when the battery reported errors. My alarm behaves strangely in a specific place and it is definitely not a battery problem., so I just physically lock the door since the car is in view when I'm there.
