You don't need the press tool. The ball joints are loosely fitted inside the arms, it's just the glue that you need to break. Easy with a couple of sockets and a vise.

My mechanic did just note the following:
“None of your joints have play yet, just bad boots (cant change the boots without the joint)
This is ugly (in a place no one but a mechanic sees) but not unsafe
My advice would be keep checking for play during annual inspection and dont change them until there is some play.”

Let me know if anyone has a second opinion on this.
    Thanks.

I changed boots on a couple of joints which had no play, you can buy them from Ricambi. Just remove rubber seal/boot, clean, relube, replace. Smear a bit of silicone on pliers grabbing point so no dust goes in. done.

I used Hill Engineering (as someone else also suggested)
Even if OEM ball joints are good currently, they will fail at some point. Ferrari used chrome plated mild steel (bad) and the Hill Engineering models are stainless (good).

But according to you, the previous owner already replaced with Hill Engineering, AND your mechanic said there's no play, so why are you looking to make more work for yourself? Go enjoy your car!

My car was clunking so they had to be done. Clunk went away with the Hill units.

Initially during PPE, I was told that there was play. And then my mechanic did confirm that it would soon need replacement.. just today, he clarified that the boots were bad, but that would need to whole joint to change.

Do they sell the boots separately? Do you have a link for this?

Just look for part number 171847 at ricambi. It shows available for 29.50. That is for lower one. Just get part no. For upper and you'll find it.

You realize the OEM is exactly the same price. I'd go with OEM. Ricambi has them in stock - you'll get them in like 1-2 days.
