The beauty is that these rare cars (CS, scud) are so rare, that carfax will decrease the value a bit but they’ll still enjoy the same appreciation arc as the clean fax cars…love it!

With the new cars having questionable styling and being computers on wheels with massive prices it is easy to see why the older cars are appreciated.

It will be a new baseline if Fcar dealers really do require new VS/hypercar buyers to have them in their collection. Unfortunate side effect of the new car buyer hoop jumping making the resale market for others a pita. I wish Ferrari would sell the new hypercar slots via charity auction only like the Monterey SP3. That was obviously pre-spec'd, but in that way the excess funds needed to buy a hypercar slot go to a good cause than people buying cars they don't really want and mess up the markets for others.

I have a crazy question. Would anyone now trade your CS for a SF90. With this recent trend, you could have a loaded Assetto Fiorano package. Personally I think these are becoming much more interesting with a quarter million dollar haircut from new. Anyone?

The 250-300k ship has sailed. 400k is probably the floor here now. Everytime I've seen collectible cars jump (F40, CGT, rs 4.0, 911 R, speciale, etc) they go up in bursts, it's never linear.

I did ask for an opinion. I personally think a 1000 hp Ferrari to be an interesting proposition.

1000 horsepower used to be the stuff of dreams—reserved for supercar royalty. But Tesla changed the game. Today, you can grab a used Model S Plaid for around $50k and enjoy relentless 1000hp launches all day long. No clutches to fry, no transmissions to grenade—just charge, stomp, and repeat.

But a Challenge Stradale at full send? That’s different. Few machines can deliver the kind of raw, hair-raising thrill that leaves you buzzing every single time you get away with it.

Ferrari needs to make a gt3 or gt4 competitor. Make it stupid light, make it n/a, make it feel like a racecar….thats all I would want new. No hybrid or soft ass suspension or 4k pounds

    oh wait they won’t ….

    well you have 3 options:
    Stradale
    Scuderia
    Special

Don't get me wrong the CS is an experience and at 9-10/10ths the GT3 is a beast. I would encourage everyone to drive a 296. I was very, very impressed. It is light by modern standards, sounds proper, light on its feet, and is scary fast. I have not jelled with the looks however.

No, the list of cars which I would trade for my CS is short and no car on that list is newer than 2005.

The SF90 is probably a great car and insanely fast - it's just not a car which I would prefer over a CS.
In my opinion: All cars worth owning have already been built, most of them decades ago.

A personal view; there are faster cars than the CS and these cars are better built and more reliable. But, I’m not interested in them.
The CS is built to do one thing really well and to achieve that it needs a warm, dry day and a smooth driver’s road. When you hook all these things up together it delivers an intoxicating experience.
I have a pal with an M3, jacked up to 700bhp, sub 3 second 0-60, etc. It’s cost him a fortune.
All very impressive, but after all that effort, he still doesn’t love it. It’s just a car and he’s now looking for it’s replacement.
I have no interest in finding a replacement for my CS. It’s special to me, I’ve acquired other cars but my commitment to the CS is undiminished. And that’s the difference. It’s been with me for over a decade, my kids have grown up with it and it’s put a smile on my face in dark times. It’s more than just metal and rubber. It converts money into noise, adrenaline, excitement and drama. That’s enough for me, it makes me happy. The more people feel this way the higher prices will go. It doesn’t matter to me, because I have mine.

It’s not about how fast it goes, it’s about how it goes fast.

No even if it was the SF90xx. The only car id trade the CS for is over 3x the cost and not a Ferrari. Like 066/8 said, all the greatest hits have been built and all decades ago. That doesn't mean the CS is better than the new models, it's just that I don't want to sacrifice the CS in order to experience something else.

Id imagine some of the other CS owners who's posted in this thread can agree the CS was ingrained in their head from an era of their youth. If that impression is strong enough, then this intangible factor will never be overcome by newer cars. The dopamine hit from owning the CS is just too great!
