On 290 East this afternoon I was passed by a McLaren P1 yellow with some green accents, which then exited to Central Avenue
    It had dealer plates
Could not find a listing for the car
    It was looking good

Trying to get my 1969 GTV "America" ready for the big national Alfa Romeo convention concours next Saturday in Crystal Lake Illinois. My friend down the street is bringing his 640hp hot rod Giulia Quad to the event. I know of hundreds of rare Alfa's that are going. Larry Ogle is also bringing his Trans Am AUSCA Duetto.

I am only bringing one of my Alfa's, the one pictured below. I have 6 of them now, all 40+ years old except the new Giulia.

A little history lesson on Knauz and the GTA's in the American Trans Am series back in the 1960's and 1970's. That white Duetto Spider pictured at the Alfa Convention was modified and built by AUSCA for Trans Am racing. It is basically a GTA Duetto. They made 2, and the other one was owned by Joe Marchetti for many years.

Bill Knauz - On Alfas, Early Days of AROC, and Racing

"Bill Knauz is a prominent figure in Chicago’s automotive world, known for his role as Chairman of Knauz Autopark, a long‑standing family‑owned dealership group based in Lake Bluff / Lake Forest, Illinois. He inherited a business founded by his father Karl Knauz, which began modestly as a gas station in 1934 and grew into a major regional operation featuring franchises for luxury and mainstream brands, a full collision/detail center, and a large pre‑owned vehicle center. Bill played an important behind‑the‑scenes role in early Alfa Romeo racing in the U.S., particularly through his dealership and partnership in the company Ausca. His business, Knauz Continental Motors, employed Horst Kwech, who would become one of the leading Alfa Romeo drivers of the 1960s. Together with Kwech and Ron Neal, Knauz helped found AUSCA, which prepared Alfa Romeos (notably the GTA) for SCCA and Trans‑Am competition. Under Knauz’s support, Kwech and teammate Gaston Andrey campaigned a factory‑prepared GTA in the Under‑2.5‑Liter Trans‑Am series in 1966, helping secure the Manufacturers’ championship for Alfa Romeo. Throughout these years, Bill was also involved with the early formation of the Alfa Romeo Owner's Club and even held many of the early meetings at his house. Daniel of Buona Ventura had the honor of sitting with Bill for a couple hours and went down memory lane as he looked through some old photographs and documents and told some of his favorite stories. The full interview is over 2 hours long and will be out soon, but here's a shortened version that focuses primarily on Alfa Romeos."

    Thanks for sharing this story.
I bought the house in Millis MA that Gaston Andrey lived in before he moved to a much bigger one in town.
Never met him but I remember him driving past us one day in a 308
He had a Saab/Ferrari store in Framingham MA, a few towns away.
