I haven't rebuilt a 360 V8 of course, but owning a restoration/custom car shop for over 32 years now, I can tell you that the costs for rebuilding a pedestrian V8 is easily 10K when you consider quality rebuild parts, competent machine work, and the labor. We have long since been using crate engines from GM and Ford since they are more economical than a rebuild-- especially with the lack of professionals who can be trusted to do the rebuild job correctly. To add, I don't know who I would trust to rebuild my 360 V8. And if I did find someone I'm sure that person would be quite the specialist these days-- and quite expensive.

I'm betting a quick visit to a website that would sell the quality parts for a complete 360 V8 rebuild would make your head explode.

I overheated the car a couple of times due to excessive air trapped in the coolant system. I removed the overflow coolant tank a couple of times and was not aware that the coolant lines were not self-bleeding. The expansion and contraction from the heat caused the head bolts to loosen just a tad. A few months later, the car started running a little rough and eventually pushed out a corner of one of the head gaskets. I took the car to Ferrari Indy #1 who promised to fix it. He removed the engine from the car and it sat there for months. After a few calls, I stated that I could wait no longer. The reply I received was, "What are you going to do, come down here and take the car, the engine and all the parts away??". That same day I acquired a flat bed, a box truck and a couple of helpers, and took the car, the engine and all the parts away. After a few calls, Ferrari Indy #2 agreed to rebuild the engine so I dropped everything off there. Again, it sat for months. After a few calls, I again stated that I could wait no longer. The reply I received was, "What are you going to do, come down here and haul everything away again??". That same day I called Ferrari Indy #3 who agreed to rebuild the engine but didn't want any bad blood with Ferrari Indy #2. He wanted to call him first and explain how serious I was. Once this happened, Ferrari Indy #2 called me and convinced me that they would devote their full attention to rebuilding the engine and putting the car back together. Exactly two weeks later, I took a cab to Ferrari Indy #2, paid the $12K bill, drove the car out of there and it has been running perfectly ever since.

There was an overheating problem with mycar, and when we removed the cylinder head,we noticed a drop in the piston liners.
because of this isue, ı decided to restore the car and completely rebuild the engine.
