Your tipoffs are fine, but the setup to the scam began before that. By posting an email and/or phone number, a user invites a scammer to contact them outside of Fchat where they can say or do anything with few consequences. The scammer pretends to be the seller and then works the mark for the scam.

In general, we recommend using DM/Conversations to conduct business from ads here. While by no mean perfect, this helps your odds. First, we actively monitor for scam user accounts and get rid of them when we find them. Second, most users have at least a few months, sometimes many years, of posting history. If they're going to scam someone, then they will have drawn attention and criticism to themselves already, which takes us back to the consequences of the first point. Third, if something in the DM/Conversation seems odd or off base, you can report the item and a moderator can check into the posting history and logs for any clues as to whether the account is too new or may have been taken over by a hijacker. Fourth, responding with DM/Conversations at least confirms that you're talking to the person currently logged into that account, rather than someone pretending to be that person via email.

100% agree with you, thank you. Unfortunate that the world operates this way. Lastly I forgot one detail -- the phone number is 1-520-254-5163. This same person also impersonated f3Honda4Me.

Member Riddim sent me a PM that he had a friend selling the headers I was looking for, and to email him directly. The “seller” sent stolen pics of 911 headers when I asked for pictures.
Here is the email it came from, the picture he sent me, and the source of the original image found through google reverse image search.

    Riddim has been banned.

The offsite contact zel technologies is actually the name of a real company but that company uses ZelTech.com not gmail. The email address reported in the screen capture [email protected] also returns results in spam/scam databases if searched.

It would seem a relatively simple add on at signup to scan the available spam email databases against emails being used by applicants to sign up here.

    well, lookee there, it does.

Yes, XenForo has built-in options to check the StopForumSpam database and other DNS blocklists during registration to block known spammers. Additionally, there are various popular third-party add-ons, such as Xon's Signup Abuse Detection or the Anti-Spam by CleanTalk add-on, that integrate with external spammer databases to provide more comprehensive protection.
    Built-in XenForo Features
XenForo's built-in spam prevention tools include:

    • StopForumSpam Integration:
You can integrate with the StopForumSpam database, a collaborative database of known spammers, to check email addresses and IP addresses during registration.
    • DNS Blocklists:
XenForo can check IP addresses against DNS blocklists, like Tornevall DNSBL.
    • Registration Timer:
This weak defense can slow down automated spam bots.
    • Q&A CAPTCHA:
XenForo offers a built-in Q&A CAPTCHA system to prevent automated registration.

Maybe a little help from the development team to implement this would save you some aggravation, and us as well, going forward?

We already check in with the spam/scam databases on new user registration. That generally kicks out a handful to over a hundred new user registrations a day, depending on how active the "bots" are.

The email address that popped up in a spam/scam database in my post above was used in an OFFSITE exhamge to which Riddim referred the potential target. Hence the fake zel technologies email was outside the new user registration process.

If users are going to allow themselves to be lured offsite, they need to do their own checking.

exactly, our protection is pretty good of users if they stay on FerrariChat, but we have no control or oversight outside, that's why the scammers lure them offsite.
