    Hi everyone,

I’ve recently become the proud owner of a Ferrari 328 GTS, and while going through the car I noticed that it didn’t come with the soft cover (or storage bag) that’s typically used to protect the removable targa roof when it’s stored behind the seats.

I have a couple of questions:
    1. What are the implications of not having this cover — is it mainly cosmetic (to prevent scuffing), or does it serve any structural/protective purpose for the top or interior?
    2. Are there any recommended sources for an OEM or good-quality aftermarket replacement cover? I’d like to keep things as original as possible, but I’m open to high-quality reproductions if OEM is hard to find.
Any advice or links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Best,
    J

OP is in Europe and I'm sure there's a place in Holland that has made these in the past (a post somewhere here.......) or in the UK Kent High Performance

OEM targa top storage covers aren't hard to find new - They're not cheap though:

    OEM: https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/part/ferrari/60418209 £530.28 with VAT (Value Added Tax) / @ $713 + shipping

(The OEM cover is supplied with 4 Tenax fasteners but they do not have the plastic button heads - For the Tenax fasteners with the Ferrari horse plastic buttons, you have to order 4 of these as well as the cover: https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/part/ferrari/60727200 £24 each with tax / @$32.33)

    Alternative: https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/part/ferrari/60418209-u?id=487290 £352 with VAT / @ $475 + shipping

(According to their site, the alternative part: "may not be identical in appearance and may require minor rework to for but should fulfil requirement" - It also appears to come already with 4 Ferrari capped Tenax fasterners )

I had a GTS years ago and I still wonder what this cover is for ?
Protect the removable targa roof when it’s stored behind the seats, but protect from what ? As I remember I never used it and my targa top still in good shape

May be the direction which the top is stored behind the seat ? The top in face of the seats ?

If you look at the link I attached above, I gave a brief explanation. It really does have a use. I didn't use one for years and the seat back wore down the paint and texture on the targa top. I'm tall and have the seat leaning against the top of the top. Conversely, I assume a short person would have the top falling forward every time they brake.

Congrats on the new acquisition. I added an '87 328 GTS last month and have been taking care of some minor issues. I searched the threads and learned that this cover from a C4 Corvette is very close to our targa roof. I bought it on Amazon, $104, fits close enough, padded inside for protection. Try it and you can always return for free if you don't like it.
