Has anyone purchased an additional charger for the 296? I would like to keep one at home and one in the car just in case. Just want to avoid packing it up all the time. I did a search and found some aftermarket but don't know how well they work. Thoughts?

I’m in the exact same boat and was thinking of keeping one at work but then I read that keeping the battery at 100% all the time is detrimental so decided against it

Where did you read about 100% all the time is bad. The charger will actually cycle the battery so it is not at 100%

That is a general statement about Lithium Ion Batteries - not about automobile batteries in particular, or hybrid/EV batteries more specifically. I believe car battery chargers are more smart and as mentioned, will cycle and not keep hard charging against that 100% mark.

You may very well be right: my car when it charges goes to 100% and therefore I decided against having it constantly charged to 100% and only have 1 wire at home. That is all. I’m certainly NOT saying that I am right.

I might just be making stuff up. :)

I wonder if the indicated 100% is really 100%? That has been something I’ve thought about with a lot of things…

I’ve only had the GTS for two weeks and I was out of town one of those. The only warning my dealer gave me was to never let the battery drain to zero. Usually put it in challenge mode before parking for the day at work. I’m sure I will loosen up a bit over time - bravely ran in hybrid mode in town today.

I believe this is generic information and does not apply accurately to the hybrid battery in the Ferrari as the technology is different and the software is smarter.

I mostly charge the car via my home EV charging box (porsche) - zero problems over a year. Keep the Ferrari wall socket charger in the car.

If yo want to keep one in the car for emergency, you can buy any generic wall socket to EV plug - will do the job in emergency.
