Finally looking to pull the trigger soon. Was hoping I could find a used system for sale to minimize the risk. I like the idea of the tone and weight savings of S Line. My Tubi non valved race exhaust that’s on there now is deeper. I definitely want to reduce drone. Wondering how drone is between S Line non valve, S line valved, and Kline stainless.
I have Kline headers, Kline 100 cell cats and Kline valves exhaust all in stainless. To the earlier comments on any drone - it’s subjective. I don’t have an issue with drone, but that’s also the advantage of the valves. Long highway drive - shut the valves. For me, the louder the better. Valves are rarely closed unless I’m trying to sneak out of the neighborhood early in the morning.
I’d love to know from anyone that has S Line valved how much the valved mode quiets them down. Does it eliminate drone?
I have the S Line non-valved and it sounds absolutely glorious at all RPMs. I don't hear any drone but I'm not usually keeping RPMs steady
The valved system on the SLine quieted it down some. Not a ton, but some. With the valves open, the exhaust was not nearly as nice and high-pitched sounding as it was when I had the unvalved system. The reason for this is because even when the valves are open, the exhaust gas is still passing through a muffler. It's never truly muffler bypassed. It did not eliminate the drone. It droned bad when the valves were open, and somehow even still droned with the valves closed.
Make sure you compare like-for-like experiences - 360 / 430 / Scud all sound different from one another regardless of exhaust brand/model personally, on my Scud with factory headers and cats, I think the valved S-Line sounds great. I’ve posted plenty of clips as well as boostedtoy with a non-valved version. The resonances I hear at cruising speed in 6th gear drop 90% when I close the valves. I don’t consider the drone to be an issue at all.
Have you heard the Scud next to a 430 with Challenge headers? Neither would have front cats. Curious how different they sound other than the Scud reving faster with the lighter engine internals.
