    Today was a big day! I got my first CEL!

    I was on my way home from getting the 360's windows tinted when it came on. Luckily the local place that works on Ferraris was on my way, so I stopped by to get the codes read. Misfire for cylinders 1 and 8. The car drives fine and nothing seems out of sorts. The CEL is solid, and not flashing, so that's good. The shop says to just monitor it. Then I spoke with my Ferrari mechanic and he said the same thing. So we shall see what happens.

    My thought is that in the 2 weeks I have had the car I have driven it nearly 700 miles, whereas the prior 3 years saw the car driven only 500 miles. The 3 years before that it was only driven 800 miles. So maybe it's just not used to being driven!

    I actually was just going thru the service records, and in April 2019 the car had these exact same error codes. The report says they suspected sticky injectors from the car not being driven - apparently they added a fuel additive to the fuel and that solved the problem. Very interesting.

    Great tires, but all season tires, with quite good grip when very cold, and can take you out of a ditch in snow... If you don't need all seasons (dont' drive Ferrari in winter) just get summer tires like Ps4s or extreme contact like @ADA///M mentioned.

    Well shoot - I just assumed that any normal person would only have summer tires on their Ferrari. Looks like I need to call the tire place and cancel my order for Michelon all-seasons! Then I can order summer tires so I have them on-hand once Spring hits.

    It looks like I can get Michelin PS5s in 215/45 R18 front, 275/40 R18 rear. An excellent choice?

    I just want something as close to Cup2's as I can get.

    They are unfortunately a high performance all-season tire. They wouldnt be my first choice, but also they are probably fine and I wouldnt replace them (at least not right away).

    Adding grip/speed doesn't make anyone safer in my mind. It just means you're driving faster before you find the limits. If anything it makes things less safe.

    I'd prefer to never find the limits of the car's grip, except on a race track. For spirited mountain drives, I intend to stay well within the limits.

    On that notes, I got some Michelin PS5's ordered and will have them next week. Then they can sit in the garage until the Spring weather arrives. I'd rather have them in my possession instead of trying to get them in the spring, only to have them backordered.

    Welcome and I'm enjoying the discussion of feathering throttle and realized that is where I get the most enjoyment out of driving. I am in a three pedal so i have a little more control but matching revs up or down and controlling the engine sound and chassis feel with the feet is where all the enjoyment is for me whether at legal speeds or not. I wish I had better roads to become a better driver and obtain even more mastery of the car but it's just not available where I live. People with way more car experience are contributing here so I'll just continue reading but did install the PS4S tires recently and after messing around with the pressures a bit I really like them. I am not on a track though just a on the street guy!

    Hey pritchett (I assume the same from WW forums).

    The Porsches handle differently. I wrote a somewhat meandering comparison of the GT3s and the 360 on Rennlist:

    The 360 is a fairly lively car compared to the Porsches. For someone that used to race Karts in my younger years and am very confident on 4 wheels, I prefer it because I can get my excitement out of the car at lower speeds. With good tires though, I don't have any problems keeping up or leading a drive with my fast driver friends in 718 GTS's.

    Regarding tires, MPS4s have been tested to only be very slightly slower than Cup 2 on the track and have most of their grip immediately. Since I can drive year round in socal, having a tire with grip when cold makes a big difference. Taking a car out with Cup 2s in high 40s or low 50s mornings can be a little more lively than I like.

    Hey Ryan! YES, that's me! Thanks for the info and I will had over to that thread right now. I wish that I had long-term karting experience - that would certainly be helpful. In the mean time I am just hoping to find somewhere / someone to teach me the ways.

    If you are serious about wanting to improve then getting a racing sim will be one of the biggest things that can help and then, in combination with that, getting the car into autocross or the track where you can round out the feeling and getting to know the car.

    The sims though help you build the muscle memory, the technique and smoothness. My driving skills aren't really from the karting as much as the time spent in the sims. Probably for every hour of being in a kart, I spent dozens of hours in the sim.

    Dang it, now I'm jealous.....I've had an old Lamborghini for 11.5 years and still waiting for my first CEL

    Incredibly fun to drive, roaring V-12 inches behind your head.

    Hang in there, I traded a good Porsche Turbo for this. The exotics are just that much better.

    Yellow metallic pearl, a 1 of 1 shade

    Glistens in the sun like no other color (Bianco Fuji is pretty close though).....and flying bugs and butterflies love landing on it (all yellow cars share this strange trait)

    If the code comes back, and since it sat so long, change your plugs, and pull your injectors and have them cleaned. Super cheap.

    Thanks - that's great advice.

    I have just been so busy with work in the last week that I haven't been able to drive the car at all. Got to make hay while the sun shines, right?

    But right now I just want to go for a nice drive!

    I really loved my manual 986s back in the day and it was a super easy and fun car to drive hard. I've daily driven a 996 for 10 years now and it doesn't handle as well as the boxster. I've had an F1 360 for 2 years and I think my driven talent (or lack thereof) can't extract all the performance from it.

    Hah! Sounds just like me. I totally get it.

    When you get to it, and the thing is that even if it doesn't fix it, it's cheap, and the car does need new plugs after sitting like that and the injectors need to be leaned after sitting like that, so you need to do it anyways.
