The car is a 2014 FF with 30,000 miles. Thanks so much all. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes. See the Mr JWW video on running his Lusso dry. I never allow the gas bars to drop below 2 bars after the previous owner of my car had allowed the tank to run low which burned out one of the fuel pumps.
One thing you learn as a Ferrari owner -- the more annuciator lights you see the less dramatic the problem probably is. Fear one light. Do not fear all of them.
ha, you guys are funny. OK so I filled it back up and the "engine control system failure Go to dealer" light was still on. So yeah, I do not think that fixed it unless I drive it tomorrow and all the lights are go. I came home, parked it. I will plug it in later, and it could fix it self overnight...maybe? Thank you guys for responding. I am all ears. This is my first Ferrari.
If you mean you are going to plug it into the trickle charger that came with the car, that will not fix it. All that will do is maintain a weak battery. Have the battery tested, or even better purchase a tester (if you are going to own a Ferrari, you're going to need it. )
For sure, I was trying to be funny. Like the car might just fix itself right?! But yeah, I have already reached out to Scuderia Rampante which is my closest mechanic. They are going to schedule me to come in.
I'd try and just unplug the negative terminal to "reset" it. Don't have it on the tender when you do that. I had the same thing come on in my Lusso. The shop reset it, and drove it 300miles. It never came back on and had no symptoms. Transferred to dealer, they drove it 200miles... never came back on. Their best conclusion was a bad tank of gas that they burned through.
Yeah I’d fill it up, reset the battery and test. If it comes back then change battery. If it comes back then get help or troubleshoot further.
I have had all those lights and more on several of my Ferraris and most times if I charged the car overnight.. and in this case put a little gas in it and the rest will likely go out... as someone else the more lights the less the chance of it being a real problem besides the battery..
I used to get this all the time on my FF. If I turned the car off and then back on, the warning lights would go away. Once I put in a new battery I have not seen them come on.
I agree with most above. On these cars a low voltage will set off a host of warnings and lights. So number 1 is don’t panic and always first charge the battery, lock the car, unlock after it’s shut down and see if they go away. Keep the car on a battery tender at all times unless it’s a daily driver (this is advice from our main Ferrari dealer). Have the battery tested to see if it needs replacing. Once these steps have been exhausted and the warnings are still there, it’s time for the dealer. Any red warning lights and it’s time for a flatbed.
I have done both. I prefer to do them myself. The FF is not too bad. Take the passenger side engine cover off (~12x screws), then remove the battery brace holding it in, terminals, and lift out. It is a bit of awkward angle; you have to tilt the battery a bit to get it in there. Maybe it's just me but I have way better luck with batteries when I install them myself.
It's pretty easy for DIY. Some of my notes here, many other threads also: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/149915414/
Well….I’d love to jump in here and ask my own warning light question… has anyone seen this light? Not in the FF owners manual available online. Mines a 2015…this light comes on intermittently. 1-3 seconds at a time, not all the time, but more and more frequently. Always when I’m just cruising at 30-40 mph in 3rd or 4th, not while accelerating. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I live 2.5hrs from the dealer. They cleared the code and couldn't get it to come back on and there were no symptoms. I had one of the techs drive it home and back for several days to see if they could get it to come back on. I didn't want to have to do the 5hr round trip again.
that makes sense. Of course there are plenty of times when I live 2 1/2 hours from my dealer, but then again I'm in Manhattan and 2 hours of those are getting over the George Washington Bridge! Best of luck with this problem
