All, I am looking a trading in my 2017 488 Spider (14k miles) on the following 296 GTB from Ferrari San Francisco:

    https://preowned.ferrari.com/en-US/a/north-america/used-ferrari/usa/ferrari-of-san-francisco/296-gtb/ZFF99SLA2N0283362-1760955413860

It is a 2022 that was the dealer's demo, Imola red, 5800 miles, pretty loaded with a lot of carbon fiber @ $299,000. They are also offering me two additional years of bumper to bumper warranty for $5400; and giving me $125k for trade in (so total current trade difference is $79,520).

I have not made any counter offer yet. Thoughts?

I'd say trade-in is low (which is common practice from dealers) but on the other hand $300K for a 296 is not really much... In terms of value (considering what a 296 is compared to a 488) it looks like a good deal but you may want to have a close look at the market to double check whether it's consistent with the current situation.
It also depends on what the initial MSRP of the 296 was.

296 > 488 IMO , that is a lot of car for the money, I know once you get it, you won't second guess yourself!
The one point I would ask you double check is the .... $5,400 for bumper to bumper warranty for 2 years... statement
296 normally only have warranty extension or warranty extension hybrid options in 1,2, 0r 3 year terms at a much higher price.
$5,400 sounds like V8 power16 pricing. I could be wrong, so please confirm in advance of purchase. If pricing is correct... that part is a steal!

Not knowing the actual condition of the trade in, $125k could be high.. :wink
Remember, every seller's car is in perfect condition... lol

Great point. A few cheaper cars I enquired when I was looking were Corsa Pilota cars. Not worth the trouble for my taste.

I just bought practically that same car a couple of months ago. Dealer demo, Rosso Imola with similar mileage and lots of carbon fiber. My Ferarri’s have generally been black, but I love the color. Sticker was 444K, I negotiated to 290 with a $9500 CPO 2 year warranty. no trade in.

I absolutely love that car! I did Corso Pilata last month at Laguna Seca and it was amazing. Can’t weigh in on the trade in, but the price I was offered on my GTC4 Lusso made me say never mind, I’ll keep it.

These are incredible cars. $140k+ off MSRP? I couldn’t do this deal fast enough. :)

And you probably can do a little better- so negotiate.

Note: The two year warranty extension is a bargain.

I purchased my 812GTS from them. They were a pleasure to deal with.

Looking at the Vin it is an early 22 build so effectively 3 years old . Average Tom high miles depending on who you talk to . Nice spec , refined yet sporty with a little red on the interior , it is not too loud.

I would double check on the warranty and you know what your 488 is worth so you need to get that . Best of luck

Killer deal, I really love the Imola color!
You were in the same boat as me. But, I feel like I got a good price on my lusso.
    Enjoy!

I also bought a dealer demo back in March, I went through this.... everyone walked away happy and I love this car and no issues at all with it...

What I am going to tell you from my experiance..... is to say you want the 2 years of factory warranty thrown into the the deal FREE, and say if that is offered you will come in an do the deal that afternoon ( but you have to be serious to do this). This lets they know you will be right down to do the deal, so you aren't ***** footing or being wishy-washy, but that you want something decent thrown in. These cars are not selling fast, and there are tons on the market and the Dealer ESPECIALLY wants to get rid of the 2022 demos for other stuff to bring in. You have to play a little tough on holding the line because there are so many out there and yes that is an OK price, but your a (serious) buyer on their line, so you have leverage. Normally Ferrari has the upper hand, in this case you have leverage too. But come across as very interested and respectful, but say you are scared of it being and older older model and the battery being a hybrid... just to show them you a tad worried, so you want them to offer you the security of that simple little 2 years of extra factory warranty without you paying extra.

What I can also say is that the "dealer demos" , as bad as that name may sound, has had, in most every case, every bug worked out if there was any because its their demo and they had to keep it looking and running good. Mine had full PPF, Carbon wheels and race seats, and was spotless, and has had no issues, i do freaking love it. My dealer was actually super cool, and while they hemmed and hawed a little about the free factory warranty I said, listen I'll get on a plane tomorrow and do the deal if I get what I want.... and I did and they sold it.

I think there’s still room to negotiate — you might even be able to get them to include the warranty at no extra cost. They’ll do well on the 488, and 296 prices keep sliding, especially at Ferrari of SF. I’ve been watching their 2023 yellow 296 and it just dropped again — pretty sure it’s down to around $311K now.
