458 CarPlay aftermarket module added to my 458

I bought the "Ferrari 458 (F142) 488 (F142M) F12Berlinetta (F152) F8 (F142MFL) 812 Superfast (F152M) GTC4Lusso (F151M) Portofino (F164) 2009-2023 FRI Carplay Add Carplay/HiCar Kit" from my supercar expert. Looks like they don't sell it anymore, but I think the hardware is similar to any of the other carplay retrofit kits you can purchase.

 

Not sure on the update process, I assume they will let us know when it's ready to get updated.

 

I turned off my iPhone updates until I see there is some kind of update, but I did notice KKS stopped selling CarPlay for the 458 for iPhone.

 

Did anybody get CarPlay to work consistently? Or is everybody still having issues? I think Apple released an update for iOS26 (26.0.1 23A355) that included fixes to the WiFi/bluetooth bugs about a week ago.

Mine still doesn’t work

 

Ios26 is absolute pos. Went from perfectly running iPad to pure trash and crashes.

My no sound issue has been fixed. I asked KKS to send a replacement unit on warranty which costs $400 plus tariffs. They say I will receive $400 back when return the first unit. Upon receiving the warranty unit, I plugged it in to the original installed harnesses. My unit is mounted in the top left corner of the glovebox so this was easy. Still no sound. Decided to pull the harness that bridges the entertainment unit to the car. After laying it out on the floor I noticed that there was an additional small
connection that is for the phone mic. I have no such hookup in the car, so mic is integrated some other way. With the first harness people could hear me on the phone but I couldn’t hear them, so no mic issue. I decided to test this newly delivered harness and everything worked! I was able to activate the iPod with the hold and tilt function and have CarPlay sound from the phone and music. The little mic connection is just left unhooked. My car is a 2014 spider built in 2013, so sort of middle production model.

My only remaining issue is that the unit does not play music after a phone call. The solution is to turn off the car and restart or turn the wifi on the iPhone off and on and it will restart the system. KKS didn’t offer a fix for this, said it may be car specific.

 

Has there been any news about the compatibility with the new IOS 26?

 

Works great for me. Was able to play with the sizing a bit and I think it's actually better now.

iOS 26.0.1 does not fix the disconnect issues. It should be noted though that this is an iPhone 17/iOS 26 issue with the new bluetooth/wifi chip in the phones. It has nothing to do with the suppliers of these CarPlay kits. It happens with factory CarPlay as well. Sometimes my phone will go multiple hours or multiple trips without problems, and then other times I cannot get it to stay connected more than 2 minutes currently.

 

I’m staying with my 16 with updates shut off for now.

 

Ios26 epic fail.

 

Yeah just tried the Ottocast mini cube v3 w/ my iPhone 17. Didn't work in the 488 w/ OEM Carplay module. The same setup works on my other cars though.

 

I have the same problem in my 812 GTS. Grrr..

 

ios26.1 just installed. So far so good with my KKS module

 

Keep us posted. I actually turned off updates until I know if it works.
