Max left for Brazil the next day after Mexico. Here he is with his father-in-law and lots of Brabham around. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was privileged to see both BT52s demonstrated at Goodwood (on the circuit, not the “hillclimb) a couple of years ago. To me, it is the most mechanically and aesthetically elegant F1 car of the modern era. The two remaining cars were then owned by Ecclestone and BMW. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was at Monaco in the eighties and watched the car live around the swimming pool area. It was insane.
At Goodwood Patrese was driving Ecclestone’s car. He complained that Bernie warned him not to over-rev but the boost came in so suddenly and that pre-boost the car was a dog, so he had trouble finding the sweet spot in the rev range. http://www.goodwood.com/grr/event-coverage/members-meeting/video-ricardo-patrese-reunited-with-his-brabham-bt52-at-goodwood/
I tell the story all the time, but I saw the one at BMW World in Munich and it was hard to leave. One of the most interesting machines man has ever created in my mind. Nelson is also one of the funniest drivers of all time.
This is a Sprint Weekend. This is the event link to include the schedule. Click it and the local time for you is shown for the race events; Practice, Sprint Qualy etc. https://www.formula1.com/en/racing/2025/brazil Circuit Circuit Length 4.309km First Grand Prix 1973 Number of Laps 71 Fastest lap time 1:10.540 Valtteri Bottas (2018) Race Distance 305.939km
Weather for the weekend - for now Appears much cooler for the race. Fri 07 Practice/Sprint Qualy 28°C 24% NNE 15 km/h Cloudy. High 28C. Winds NNE at 10 to 15 km/h. Sat 08 Sprint Race / Qualy for GP Rain 25°/15° Sun 09 GP Brazil Mostly Cloudy 20°/13°
Overall the Saturday events could be about risk aversion due to the weather. Wet Sprint Race - how much risk do you take for a few if any points vs destroying or major damage with Qualy later that day. That impacts your race start position on a track not known for very easy passing. The weather could be anything but just cloudy on race day as well. A few unknowns!
Ferrari seem to be finding their rhythm again after two much stronger performances, so there is plenty to look forward to heading into the Brazilian GP. With it being a sprint weekend and rain in the forecast, there is every chance for strategy and driver skill to play a big role. If the team can carry over their recent pace, we might see them right in the mix again, and hopefully Lewis on the podium too. Off the track, the weekend is shaping up to be a great experience for fans as well with plenty of entertainment, including concerts by Alok and Jorge Aragão, interactive fan areas, simulators, and team activities happening throughout the weekend in and around Interlagos. Whatever the weather brings, it should be an exciting weekend both on and off the circuit.
Great track, and enthusiastic crowd. I always like to watch the GP there. From Turn 12 through 13, 14 and 15 ,up to Turn 1, it's constant acceleration and flat out high speed corners I like. I bet it's very challenging and not for the faint-hearted, mostly if it rains ! The rest of the circuit isn't unnecessary (and artificially) twisty like some other places.
Interesting and varied circuit. Short short lap as well. The rain will mix this up potentially. Might be one of the better weekends.
Love this track. I've been to it many times and turned my first laps in a kart there. I hope it rains and we have a great race without any FIA meddling.
