Those are capote flaps, or "lateral roof flaps." They are part numbers 66462000 and 66462100, left and right respectively.

I'm shocked to see them damaged. Generally it's the capote cover that gets scratched since these are tucked away when open.

Many thanks. Are they difficult to remove? Just bought the car and these look really bad.

Hi Tim, here are instructions for removal. I haven't done it before myself.

If I was you I would like to investigate further the reason why they are in this miserable state.

    If the micr
    Might already be rectified.

I feel like its something to do the EFZ microswitch which tells the ecu when to stop the flapmotor. Say if it didnt say stop it'd be driving it too hard into the rollerover bar and cracking it. I think there's a security in the drive cable thats accessible from the cabin too. The LH one is easier than than RH which has the pump motor in the way.

The top is working properly after replacement of the two secondary cylinders and new elastic. I do believe whatever caused the damage to the flaps has been rectified. Thanks for the manual on removing the lateral roof flaps. I’m debating removing them to take to paint OR try to paint/ repair in place with them in the open position. Now understanding I can disable the canvas by unpluggging it but still allowing the flaps to open could be a solution but I don’t want to cause more harm. Any thoughts appreciated
