I’m curious. Doesn’t bedding in only involve a few high speed panic stops?

To be honest, I wasn't aware of the need to bed in the discs - seems to me another way to take away indecent amounts of money from the customers.
Anyway, as long as there is no CCM alternative for the 296, I would go for girodisc steel brakes for a fraction of the price - of course they'll need more frequent replacing, but it would still be a lot cheaper over time. And typically the braking performance is not lower with steel discs (threy just may need more frequent cooling during intensive use, but as long one does not do endurance racing it does not really matter).

I like carbon brakes, but it's quite a shame that Ferrari still uses CCM technology, which appeared back in the 430 and has a number of drawbacks.
I plan to replace the rotors with aftermarket carbon-ceramic ones made using a different technology, such as CCB or another (they're made by companies like Transform Surfaces, Triton, and others).

I have Surface Transforms rotors coupled with Pagid pads on my 488 and am very happy with this setup - definitely a big step up from the OEM Ferrari Brembo.
