Chrysler Steering gear reaction springs
This is an exploded view of the Mopar power steering gear box. When the steering shaft is turned the rotation is resisted by the reaction springs. When they deflect it allows hydraulic pressure to assist the rotation of the steering shaft. One spring for CW & one spring for CCW. The thinner the spring, the sooner the assist and the lighter the steering effort. Maybe this principle is used in our gear box?
