cannot help but wonder how rotted out the car is under the skin? after seeing all these resto threads on fchat it seems they can be questionable even if they have led an apparent easy life.

What's the price? I agree on the low mileage post on the Dino blog. My E-Type had low miles - it was stored for over 20 years! Almost all of the rubber and many gaskets rotted, the gas tank was nearly beyond recovery, and much of the major mechanical components needed rebuilding. Drive the car!!!
It's a leap of faith with any pre-1980 car at this point, unless there's a stack of restoration photos showing the car in bare metal.
