Has this one been discussed previously? Does a non-period rebody, the execution of which I will reserve comment on, really make a 365 GT4/2+2 worth ~4 to 5 times a stock, well-maintained version?

It would be worth something if 1. It had a better looking body and 2. It had a dash setup that didn't look like it was done by a freshman in high school woodworking class.

Well, if you don't ask, you won't get. Car dealers aren't know for being shy. Who knows this was obviously somebody's "cup of tea", perhaps another of similar taste and enough cash to buy a modest home will be found.
I'll not be holding my breath.

It has the appearance of a 1961 Thunderbird with a droopy nose added to the front. The lines are too straight to echo the 250 GTO styling. Maybe it wants to be a Jensen Healey?

It's funny the way people see thing so differently.

If it was mine I'd want to rip that "unique" body off and fit a standard 365 GT4 2+2 body at immense cost.

    Maybe I'm weird....

I see a bit of the T-bird too, esp the second smaller picture but the reflection on the rear makes the car look more tapered than it is.
I wish I had the talent to make something like this, well, not like "this".

John, you are being way too kind, seriously.

Russ, I'm with you 1,000% (in spirit).

Ross, you are correct, I should have said, "warrant an asking price...." Still, I just can't wrap my head around how anyone at any level could see this as more desirable. Maybe I'm just too narrrow minded.

It does have that appearance but the"section", if it was Jag, didn't maintain the original attitude. It is tilted downward. Had the front fender been arched to blend the fender top line with the "nose", and the chassis lowered, it would have produced a more visually pleasing outcome.
The same problem I have with food. I know what I like to eat, I just have no clue how to cook it.

Since Fantasy Junction is local to me I had to go and eyeball this unusual car in person today. Fantasy conveniently had a 4.2 liter XKE nearby, and I continue to see a slight resemblance. I figure the Ferrari customizer had to start somewhere for the new front clip treatment, and an XKE donor car would have been a good starting point. However, the differences are obvious as well, so I can't be sure. I also took a close up of the headlight lenses and a Google of the Carello part number tells me they're from an Alfa Duetto.

This car was for sale through Motorcar Gallery of Ft. Lauderdale back in January, 2006, with 38,405 KM. So my only question is - what happened to it between now and then that it required a complete rebody?

    Nothing that $100,000 wouldn't fix.
The only thing I like is the tidiness of the underside.

I like it! Sure it's a little awkward from a couple of angles but overall not too bad. I wonder how much it weighs? Maybe 3300lbs? If so I bet it really moves. I just hope they didn't destroy a good car to make it, that would be a real shame.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Just horrid. How to make a Ferrari look worse than many nasty replicas built on GM platforms.

    Good day All,

Just a heads up, but Fantasy Junction has reduced the price of 18359 to $79500 USD... it was originally at $165000... I wonder why?

Sadly, a lot of $$$ would have to be spent to bring her back to the way she was...

    Cheers,

    Sam

Amazed that they would admit in print that they reduced the price that much. Makes them (or their consigner) look like fools.

It surely will be parted out as that is the only way they will move it. I wouldn't seriously be seen dead in it.

    What a waste.

    That's funny!
It might even look better at the end of the race. You just KNOW it would be a target for some "rubbin'".
