Dr. Tommy's thread made me recall this experience. It was the fall of 1992 in Vernon, TX. I was home from college (UT Texas) for a weekend. I went to the gas station to fill up my almost new 1992 Camaro RS with the 170hp 305cu in V8. It was polo green II with the optional 16" Z28 wheels. As I'm filling up the car I'm looking out towards the street and everyone that drives by is checking out my car. Felt great. Hell yes it's a sweet camaro. As the pump clicks off I turn around and realize no one is looking at me at all. A. B. "Bucky" Wharton of the Waggoner Ranch had pulled up to the opposite side of the pump to fill up his red Testarossa. I drove away jealous. I think that was my first Ferrari siting. I don't think I was that close to another one until I bought a Motec and other stuff for my MR2 from Bob Norwood in 2001. Aaron
I bet that was a rare site in Vernon. I lease hunting rights on a piece of land down near Seymour, TX. I can't imagine seeing many exotics out there. I get spoiled around Dallas/Fort Worth.
I had a similar experience that inspired me to by my 1991 Toyota MR2 with the plates "Baby 348". I still have that car parked next to my 308 GTS...
Cabbot2 - I've had about ninety Toyota MR2's. My 1991 that I've had since 1998 makes 1000 horsepower. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4FDEuYokUE Aaron
Wow!...Mine is a NA....it is quick(ish), fun and reliable. I have owned since 1993 and has 190K miles. I just did a compression test and it test out as nearly new. It is now a member of the family and I will never sell...prob same as the 308.
